Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patients in the Emergency Department, verify information, collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians and family members and setting the tone for how their visit to the Emergency Department goes.
This is a remote, part-time role. A caregiver in this position will work the following schedule:
Week 1: Monday and Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Week 2: Sunday from 7:00am to 3:30pm and Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Training will be held on-site at CC Main Campus.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Perform registration and complete an accurate face-to-face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
- Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
- Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
- Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role with in-person or phone contact
- OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience
- OR a Bachelor’s Degree
- Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
- Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
- In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
- In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
