About the Role

The Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Coordinator II independently develops and coordinates construction models, drawings, and VDC deliverables for increasingly complex projects. This role works closely with project teams and other trades to identify coordination issues, support constructability, and ensure models accurately reflect project requirements. The position is designed for an experienced VDC professional ready to take greater ownership of assigned project scopes and coordination activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently develop and maintain electrical models, floor plans, details, diagrams, installation drawings, and record drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other approved VDC software.
  • Translate design documents, field information, RFIs, submittals, redlines, and project changes into coordinated model content.
  • Coordinate model development with project management, field operations, engineering, estimating, prefabrication, and other Cochran divisions.
  • Work directly with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and other trade partners to identify and resolve coordination conflicts.
  • Perform clash detection and model reviews to identify constructability concerns, spatial conflicts, and incomplete design information.
  • Develop proposed solutions to routine coordination issues and escalate higher-risk or design-related decisions when necessary.
  • Produce coordinated electrical layouts and installation drawings that support field installation and prefabrication.
  • Maintain model accuracy and alignment with contract documents, approved changes, field conditions, and project requirements.
  • Apply and monitor compliance with Cochran, customer, and project-specific BIM/CAD standards.
  • Participate actively in coordination meetings and communicate model revisions, conflicts, and action items to project stakeholders.
  • Track assigned coordination items and follow through until they are resolved or formally transferred to the appropriate project owner.
  • Manage drawing and model files received from multiple sources while maintaining version control and document integrity.
  • Conduct quality reviews of personal work before drawings or model information are issued.
  • Assist Level 1 Coordinators with technical questions, software processes, and established VDC standards.
  • Recommend improvements to modeling workflows, templates, libraries, and project documentation.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Independently develop and coordinate accurate construction models, drawings, and VDC deliverables.
  • Manage assigned VDC scopes while balancing project priorities, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Identify and help resolve coordination conflicts before they impact field installation.
  • Collaborate directly with project teams and other trades to address coordination and constructability needs.
  • Interpret project drawings, specifications, and design information to develop effective VDC solutions.
  • Apply sound technical judgment to solve increasingly complex modeling and coordination challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to improve VDC workflows, tools, and project outcomes.
  • Support less-experienced team members by sharing technical knowledge and effective work practices.
  • Continuously expand your technical knowledge of construction methods, electrical systems, and VDC technologies.

We are looking for someone with the following competencies:

  • 5+ years of VDC/BIM coordination or related experience.
  • Drafting, BIM, or modeling certificate preferred.
  • Electrical or construction industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MEP, and Navisworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; additional software skills may be required by project.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply geometry, trigonometry, ratios, and other practical calculations.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents, drawings, diagrams, schedules, and technical instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical information.
