BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SUNSTRONG MANAGEMENT
SunStrong Management is a leading independent asset management and servicing platform specializing in residential and commercial solar energy portfolios. SunStrong provides end-to-end services including operations and maintenance, customer billing and support, asset performance management, and investor reporting. The company partners with leading capital providers to optimize clean energy assets at scale, supporting the growth of distributed renewable energy while delivering reliable performance and exceptional customer experience
About the role SunStrong Management is hiring a full-time Field Service Supervisor in Hawaii who holds (or can promptly obtain) a Hawaii contractor license and will serve as the company's Responsible Managing Employee (RME) with the Hawaii Contractors License Board. You will qualify SunStrong's Hawaii contractor license, own compliance for all licensed work in the state, and lead a team of 4 Service Technicians who maintain and repair residential solar and battery storage systems.
You will work alongside SunStrong's existing Hawaii-licensed electrician, who covers electrical licensing; this role covers the contractor license.

- Direct reports: 4 Service Technicians
- Full-time, W-2 employee (required for RME status)
- Reports to: Pacific region Field Operations leadership
Licensing and compliance (RME duties)
- Serve as the designated RME qualifying SunStrong's Hawaii contractor license, and keep that license, your individual RME license, and any added classifications current and in good standing.
- Exercise direct supervision and control over all construction and service work performed under the license in Hawaii, as required by HRS Chapter 444 and Contractors License Board rules
- Ensure all work meets Hawaii building, electrical and fire codes, utility interconnection requirements (e.g., Hawaiian Electric, KIUC), and manufacturer specifications.
- Pull, manage and close out county permits and inspections (Honolulu, Maui, Hawaii and Kauai counties) where required.
- Partner with the Hawaii-licensed electrician to keep electrical and contractor licensing aligned on every job. Maintain required records, insurance and bond documentation, and respond to any Board, county or customer inquiries.
- Notify SunStrong leadership immediately of any change that could affect the license, including your planned departure (the company must replace its RME within the Board's required timeframe).
Team leadership and field operations
- Lead, coach and develop 4 Service Technicians across the islands: daily priorities, ride alongs, performance reviews, and progression on SunStrong's Tech career ladder.
- Own Hawaii service results: First Pass Yield, cost per resolution, ticket-to-completion cycle time, schedule density, backlog aging and customer experience.
- Drive SunStrong initiatives such as Nothing Over 30 (no open jobs older than 30 days) and oldest-first scheduling, working with Scheduling/Dispatch to plan inter-island routes efficiently.
- Enforce safety standards (LOTO, fall protection, PPE, electrical safety) and partner with the Safety team on audits and incident reviews.
- Diagnose and resolve escalated technical issues on PV, inverter, monitoring and battery storage systems; perform field work yourself when needed.
- Manage parts, inventory and vehicles in Hawaii with Supply Chain and Fleet, and oversee any local subcontractors.
- Report status, risks and staffing needs to Pacific region leadership using Salesforce and Power BI
