About the role
We are looking for a passionate backend engineer to join our early team. You will work closely with the co-founders and define the product and technology together and have a lot of room for flexibility.
What you ll be doing
- Own ideas from inception to execution.
- Working directly with founders to define the product and engineering roadmap.
- Designing and implementing backend functionality, architecture and more. You get to work independently and be self-directed and deliver innovative solutions.
- You will pave the way for the company to scale to millions of transactions and power digital commerce flows in a unique way.
- Write clean and maintainable code that is properly tested and reviewed
- Build automated test cases to ensure utmost quality of the platform
Skills we would love to see
- You have built backend products preferably in the B2B space that have scaled.
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering or its equivalent related experience.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant development experience.
- Experience leading/building a team
- Has built and owned multiple modules and services in one of your roles.
- We use the following technologies. Experience in the following areas is preferred.
- Experienced and proficient working with at least one of these languages - Scala, Java, Python, Elixir, Go or any functional programming language.
- Hands on experience working with relational databases such as Postgres/MySQL
- Experience working with AWS or equivalent cloud services
- Experience working with Git
- Effective written/oral communication skills and able to communicate ideas effectively to a corporate audience and excellent interpersonal skills
Nice to have
- Experience working with backend products that have scaled preferably in the B2B space
- Experience with Micro service architecture
- Experience with large scale distributed applications
- Experience in payments (acquiring, issuing, digital wallets, remittances)
- Experience working with API frameworks such as Django, Ruby on Rails, NodeJS/Express
