Freelance Translator

Ed Green Electric is eagerly searching for a dedicated, meticulous Freelance Translator to add to our dynamic team. The Freelance Translator's primary responsibilities will include translating texts from one language to another, reviewing and proofreading finished work, and making necessary edits to ensure high-quality work. This role necessitates a keen eye for detail, proficiency in at least two languages, the ability to work under pressure, and excellent communication skills. Key responsibilities: Translating written materials from one language into another, ensuring that the translated version conveys the meaning of the original as clearly as possible. Editing and proofreading text to reflect language, keeping terminology, and cultural differences in mind. Maintaining the context of the source material, even if minor changes to the original text are necessary to ensure clarity for the target audience. Using translation memory software to ensure consistency of translation within documents and across multiple projects. Requirements and Qualifications: Proven experience as a translator, with portfolio demonstrating translation skills across a variety of media. Proficiency in at least two languages, and a strong understanding of the cultural context of both languages. An in-depth understanding of linguistic and cultural differences is vital. Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. A degree in translation, linguistics, or a similar field is desirable. Proficiency in computer software tools such as Microsoft office, and familiarity with Translation Memory software such as Trados, Wordfast or MemoQ. Exceptional organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks while adhering to tight deadlines.
