Description
The National Director of Community Organizing role at National SCLC is a key leadership position tasked with the development, implementation, and management of strategies aimed at fostering community engagement and social change on a national level. Serving a crucial function in line with the mission of the National SCLC, the successful candidate is expected to have expertise in the realm of community organizing, civic engagement, and systems change. They are also expected to demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to social justice issues. Key Responsibilities: Designing and implementing a comprehensive community organizing strategy aligned with the organization’s mission. Identifying and engaging potential community leaders and collaborators at the grassroots level to foster partnerships, alliances, and networks that address community needs and promote social change. Facilitating a comprehensive understanding of key social issues among community members and stakeholders, leveraging this understanding for the co-development of solutions and platforms for change. Collaborating with other departments and teams within the organization, ensuring that community organizing efforts align with wider organizational goals. Managing a team of community organizers, providing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to enhance their performance and professional growth. Overseeing the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of community organizing activities, ensuring their effectiveness and transparency. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. An advanced degree is highly desirable. At least 8 years of demonstrated experience in community organizing, social justice work, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven experience in developing and implementing community organizing strategies. Excellent team management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire. Exceptional communication skills, with the capacity to engage a diverse range of stakeholders, including community members, team members, and high-level decision makers. A firm understanding of social justice issues and a demonstrated commitment to addressing these.
