We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team.

Position: Rigger.

We are seeking for an experienced Rigger to join our team in Mashonaland West (Zimbabwe).

Operational Responsibilities

• Prepare and inspect lifting gear including slings, shackles, chains, wire ropes, spreader bars, and lifting beams prior to use.
• Select appropriate rigging equipment based on load weight, configuration, and lifting requirements.
• Attach loads to cranes or lifting devices using safe and approved rigging techniques.
• Ensure proper load balance, stability, and secure fastening before lifting operations commence.
• Guide Crane Operators using standard hand signals and radio communication during lifting and positioning activities.
• Participate in equipment component removal and installation (engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders, structural parts, etc.).
• Interpret lifting plans, load charts, and rigging drawings as required.
• Assist in heavy equipment assembly, relocation, and major shutdown activities.
• Maintain rigging equipment registers and ensure defective gear is removed from service.

Safety & Compliance

• Comply with company safety procedures, lifting standards, and relevant legal regulations.
• Ensure all lifting operations are conducted in accordance with approved Lift Plans and Risk Assessments.
• Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and pre-lift meetings.
• Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Stop any lifting activity deemed unsafe and immediately report hazards or unsafe conditions.
• Follow Lock Out–Tag Out (LOTO) procedures when required during maintenance support activities.

Environmental Responsibilities

• Ensure lifting operations are conducted with minimal environmental impact.
• Prevent oil spills, fuel leaks, or material discharge during lifting and equipment handling.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas in the workshop and field.

Qualifications

• Recognized Rigger certification (Level I, II, or equivalent as per local regulations).
• Valid certification for slinging and signaling operations.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in rigging within mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
• Sound knowledge of lifting equipment, load calculation, and rigging techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret lifting plans and basic technical drawings.

• Experience in open-pit mining operations.
• Additional certification in Working at Heights.
• Familiarity with heavy mining equipment (e.g., dump trucks, excavators, drills, cranes).
• First Aid or safety-related certifications.
