Want to make an impact on your community, while working with a great team? Come join us and work at the front desk at the Parks and Recreation office, helping customers, providing internal assistance and learning the ins-and-outs of a recreation department. This is an entry-level position, with plenty of training and a flexible schedule, during office hours. Looking for someone to work approximately 20 hours per week, between the hours of Monday-Friday 8 am - 4 pm.


JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of responsible office administrative support activities for various City offices, which may include data entry, organization and retrieval, word processing, telephone and counter reception, provision of factual information to visitors, receipt of payments and documents, automated and manual record keeping, auditing, report preparation and filing. Receives and processes requests for walk-in and over the phone customers. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers including answering the telephone, counter reception, interfacing with visitors, providing receipt of payments, responding to emails, and using automated and manual record keeping.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Employees in this classification work under direct supervision from departmental management, supervisory, professional or higher-level office support staff, depending upon the department to which assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks that may be found in positions of this class.)
  • Provides a high level of customer service to both external and internal customers
  • Provides service desk customer service support; receives and processes telephone calls and walk-in requests; provides factual information regarding City and departmental programs, services, events, and procedures.
  • Operates standard office equipment, including job-related computer hardware and software applications and multi-line telephones
  • Collects and accounts for fees and other monies
  • Scans and files documents
  • Performs related duties similar to the above in scope and function as required. 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
  • Techniques for providing a high level of customer service to the public, the community, and City staff
  • Proper English usage, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and spelling.
  • Standard office equipment including multi-line telephones and job-related computer hardware and software applications including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Ability to:
  • Work in a team atmosphere and maintain effective working relationships while participating in a variety of Departmental activities and enhancing provision of City services
  • Work in a dynamic environment, provide support services to a variety of staff 
  • Communicate effectively in person, over the telephone, and in writing
  • Perform a variety of office support duties following standard guidelines
  • Interpret and implement policies, procedures, and computer applications related to the department
  • Utilize techniques for providing a high level of customer service to the public and City staff, in person and over the telephone.
  • Work with diverse populations and maintain an inclusive environment.
