Description

Req ID:

JR105241 Director, Construction, SMAI

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron is in the middle of the largest semiconductor capital program in U.S. history! Over $200 billion is being deployed across Idaho, New York, and Virginia -- anchored by the up to $100 billion megafab in Clay, NY -- alongside a $30 billion+ Asia-Pacific buildout spanning Singapore, Hiroshima, Sanand, and Tongluo. We are hiring a Director of AI in Construction to define and deliver the AI roadmap that compresses schedules, lifts safety, and reduces installed cost across this global program. You will own strategy and execution end-to-end, partnering directly with Construction, Facilities, EHS, Procurement, and IT leadership to bring AI to the job site at a scale no other memory company is attempting.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and complete the enterprise AI roadmap for construction operations, aligning AI investments and deployments with business objectives, project turning points, and critical-path schedules.
  • Identify, prioritize, and scale high-impact AI use cases including generative design, predictive scheduling, computer vision, material forecasting, and agentic AI workflows.
  • Lead the full AI product lifecycle from strategy, data readiness, and proof of concept through enterprise deployment and job site adoption.
  • Partner with IT and AI engineering teams to establish secure cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, governance frameworks, and compliant AI solutions.
  • Establish benchmarks and performance metrics to measure AI impact on schedule alignment, cost savings, safety outcomes, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging AI technologies while providing technical leadership on architecture, design, and complex construction-focused AI solutions.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of product managers and AI developers, fostering innovation, accountability, and execution excellence.
  • Drive multi-functional collaboration, organizational change management, and AI literacy to ensure alignment, user adoption, and successful delivery of technology-based business outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications;

  • 10-15 years of experience in construction, engineering, proptech, or heavy industrial sectors, with a deep understanding of the construction lifecycle, BIM/VDC workflows, and project scheduling tools.
  • Bachelor / Master Degree in Computer Science, AI, civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a track record of navigating matrixed corporate environments and building alignment across field operations and corporate IT.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), data pipeline architecture, and edge AI/IoT deployment constraints on active job sites.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain flexible in response to changing project and business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in product management, technology leadership, or engineering roles, with experience launching AI/ML, computer vision, or advanced analytics products, is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading AI initiatives within the construction industry.
  • Professional certifications in Autodesk, Lean Construction or buildingSMART Professional Certification are highly desirable.
