Acute Care Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – ICU (Days & Nights PRN)

Crescent City Physicians, Inc. is seeking experienced Advanced Practice Providers to join our Intensive Care Unit team on a PRN basis. In this role, you will practice at the top of your license, managing complex patient populations in a fast-paced ICU environment while providing compassionate, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Management

• Perform comprehensive evaluations of critically ill patients.
• Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Collaborative Care

• Partner with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team.
• Facilitate seamless transitions of care during shift changes and patient handoffs.

Procedures & Interventions

• Assist with and perform advanced bedside procedures, including:
  • Intubations
  • Central venous line placements
  • Arterial line insertions
  • Other critical care procedures within scope of practice

Medication Management

• Prescribe and manage medications as permitted by licensure and organizational protocols.
• Titrate critical care medications and initiate emergency interventions when appropriate.

Monitoring & Documentation

• Continuously assess patient status and response to treatment.
• Interpret laboratory and diagnostic results.
• Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Patient & Family Education

• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding treatment plans, prognosis, and ongoing care needs.
• Provide compassionate support during critical situations.

Quality Improvement

• Participate in quality initiatives and evidence-based practice projects.
• Support departmental goals related to safety, patient outcomes, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Education

• Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

Licensure

• Current, unrestricted Louisiana Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license

Certifications

• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
• Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (CCNP) certification preferred
• CCRN certification preferred

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of critical care experience as an NP, PA, or RN
• Demonstrated experience managing critically ill patients in an ICU setting
