Product Manager III, Recommendations Platform
Introduction to the Team
The Product Team creates high-quality end-to-end experiences for travelers, partners, and Expedia Group. Our focus on customer-centric innovation enables us to develop products that build loyalty and repeat business. We partner closely with teams across Expedia Group to drive growth and achieve results for our customers and the company.
Search and Recommendations Domain team powers search for BEX, HCOM, and Vrbo from first keystroke to final choice, reducing friction with intelligent forms, typeahead, and natural language–driven ranking and recommendations while optimizing traveler value, booking quality, and conversion in balance with monetization and marketplace needs.

You will join the Search and Recommendations Domain team, which powers the recommendation experiences travelers see across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo. Recommendations are one of the largest direct-revenue surfaces we run and they appear in nearly every part of the product. You will own the recommendations platform that powers the experiences across every line of business, including setting strategic direction on how to scale capabilities. The measure of success is how scalable the platform is and client adoption.
In this role, you will:
- Sets strategic direction of the recommendations platform including recs console working with experiences product counterparts and internal stakeholders.
- Own the console use to configure recommendations, and the strategy for making that configuration steadily faster and easier, including growing adoption among the teams who depend on it.
- Define the metrics and experiment plan for recommendation quality, run the reviews against them, and decide what action to take on the insights.
- Own roadmap of recommendations models and capabilities to ensure it meets the requirements of stakeholders and can scale with changing business needs.
- Work with machine learning science, engineering, machine learning engineering to deliver capabilities with defined quality guardrails.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent related professional experience
- 5 or more years of product management experience, including ownership of a platform or capability that other teams built on top of
- Demonstrated experience taking products from concept to scaled adoption
- Data fluency, including proficiency with experimentation tooling and the data analysis used to design and evaluate tests
- Experience with machine learning backed products such as ranking or recommendation systems
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools or workflows, and with applying machine learning concepts to real world products
- Experience with configurable or low-code platforms where internal teams are your customer alongside the traveler
- Experience trading organic relevance against paid or promoted placement, or a comparable commercial tension
Location expectations
This role is based in Seattle, Washington only.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
