We are looking for a Senior Element Designer with strong 3D design capabilities and a passion for innovation. You combine excellent design fundamentals with a deep understanding of form, proportion, scale, detailing and functionality. You thrive on solving complex design challenges and turning ideas into compelling physical products that balance creativity, play value and manufacturability.
As a senior member of the team, you will drive projects from concept to production, influence design direction and collaborate across disciplines to deliver world-class LEGO® elements and play experiences.
Core Responsibilities
- Drive Element Design projects from concept exploration to final design for manufacturing
- Create innovative injection molded elements that expand the LEGO® System in Play
- Lead the development of functional solutions, mechanisms and new building experiences
- Translate creative concepts, user needs and technical requirements into compelling 3D products
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Model Design, Materials and Manufacturing to deliver high-quality solutions
- Balance aesthetics, functionality, play value and production requirements throughout development
- Drive innovation by exploring new opportunities, technologies, materials and design approaches
- Create and communicate design intent through sketches, digital models, prototypes and documentation
- Influence design quality and elevate creative standards across projects and teams
- Act as a role model for collaboration, design excellence and proactive problem-solving
- Share knowledge, mentor colleagues and contribute to capability building within the design community
- Contribute proactively to the evolution of the LEGO® Design DNA

Element Design is a key department in the development of new LEGO® elements, including both molded and textile solutions. We operate at the intersection of design for aesthetics, design for play and design for manufacturing, partnering closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to transform ideas into reality.
Our designers create solutions that combine outstanding design quality with purposeful functionality. Whether developing a new mechanism, a novel building solution, an innovative material application or a breakthrough element concept, we strive to push the boundaries of creativity while maintaining the quality and values of the LEGO® brand.
Every year, we create hundreds of new elements that shape play experiences across the LEGO® portfolio. Success is always a team sport, and our work relies on strong partnerships, curiosity and a shared passion for innovation.
Do you have what it takes?
- Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or equivalent design education, combined with a proven track record of product design experience and leading design processes
- Strong hardgoods design capabilities with an exceptional understanding of form, proportion, scale, detailing and product aesthetics
- Experience driving innovation and solving challenging design problems through creativity and systems thinking
- Strong 3D design capabilities using one or more of the following software packages NX, Rhino or similar software.
- Ability to translate 2D concepts and abstract opportunities into compelling and manufacturable 3D products
- Strong sketching, visualization and storytelling capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and proven ability to collaborate across multiple functional areas
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, including injection molding and other production methods
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound design decisions in complex development environments
- Good analytic and systems-thinking skills
- Good at documenting progress and planning own time
It is an advantage if you bring
- Experience designing consumer products, toys, functional products or mechanical systems
- Experience developing innovative mechanisms, product features or interactive experiences
- Experience working with both aesthetic and functional product requirements
- Experience with prototyping, testing and user-centered design approaches
- Understanding of textile product development and alternative manufacturing technologies
- Understanding of play from a child's perspective
- Willingness to invest in the lives and careers of interns and junior designers through mentorship
