Medical Research Associate (Evenings/Overnight) - Lenexa, KS

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation united by a mission to bring new medicines and treatments to patients faster.

As a values-driven organisation, integrity, collaboration, agility, and inclusion are at the heart of how we work and interact with each other, customers, patients and suppliers.

As a Medical Research Associate (MRA) at ICON, you will serve as one of the first points of contact for participants enrolled in clinical research studies. Working closely with research volunteers throughout their clinic visits, you will play a key role in ensuring a positive participant experience while supporting the safe and efficient execution of clinical trials. These positions primarily support evening and overnight operations.

What You Will Do:

You will be responsible for supporting study participants throughout the clinical trial process while ensuring compliance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and participant safety standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for research participants during clinic visits.
  • Review medical histories and collect participant information to support study screening and enrollment activities.
  • Facilitate and witness the informed consent process, ensuring participants understand study requirements and procedures.
  • Perform protocol-required clinical procedures, including vital signs collection, height, weight, BMI measurements, specimen collection, and phlebotomy.
  • Accurately document participant data and maintain study records in accordance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
  • Explain study procedures and schedules to participants while addressing questions and supporting a positive research experience.
  • Assist clinical teams during dosing days, including participant preparation, monitoring, and study-related procedures.
  • Support participant safety through observation, communication, and escalation of concerns when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and study teams to ensure protocol compliance and efficient study execution.
  • Participate in evening and overnight clinical operations as required.

Your Profile:

You will bring a passion for patient care and clinical research, along with the following qualifications and skills:

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with research participants and study staff.
  • Ability to accurately collect, document, and review participant information and clinical data.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility to work evening and overnight shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare, biology, or science-related field.
  • Previous experience in a clinical, healthcare, laboratory, or research environment.
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical or clinical setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Phlebotomy Technician, or other relevant clinical certifications preferred.

Employment with ICON is contingent upon having the legal right to work in the country where the role is based.
