This Small Business Auto Product Manager will ​​ lead product development for the small business auto expansion, including market research, competitive analysis, class and eligibility definition, rate and rule design, and coordination of launch timelines across departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job.  Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.  Specific activities may change from time to time.   



• Prepare and manage commercial auto rate, rule, and form filings, including responses to Department of Insurance objections, in partnership with carrier partners.
• Develop pricing strategies using actuarial indications, rate indications, trend analysis, loss development, and competitive positioning.
• Monitor state performance, including loss ratio, frequency, severity, retention, and growth, and recommend and execute corrective rate and underwriting actions.
• Develop and maintain commercial auto underwriting guidelines, including eligible classes, radius, vehicle types, and driver criteria, and support forms development for new and existing programs.
• Support rate testing, forms testing, and system implementation to confirm products are built as filed.
• Analyze competitor filings and market conditions to identify opportunities and threats.
• Present product performance, launch readiness, and strategy recommendations to senior leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

​​• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 
• Master’s degree or MBA preferred. 
• 8+ years of product management, actuarial, or pricing experience in auto insurance, including direct experience with small commercial auto. Auto experience is required.
• Hands-on experience initiating and executing rate revisions, including preparing filings and responding to regulator objections.

• Fluency in core pricing concepts: rate indications, trend, loss development, credibility, relativity analysis, and overall rate change calculations.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience launching a small business auto product in a new state or market, from initial research and filing through go-live.
• Texas and Arizona auto experience, including rating plans, regulatory environment, and market dynamics.
• Non-standard personal auto experience, or experience with small fleet and light commercial risks.

• MGA or program business experience, including work with carrier partners on filings and product approvals.


CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS 

​​• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferred. 
• Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) or equivalent certification is an advantage. 
• No specific state licensing requirements unless dictated by product line.​

This is a hybrid position based at our office in Flower Mound, Texas. For an exceptional candidate, we will consider a fully remote arrangement with quarterly travel to the Flower Mound office.
