Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst – Risk Finance plays a key role in supporting the company’s risk financing strategy through accurate loss reporting, financial controls, and data analytics. This position is responsible for managing Workers’ Compensation and Liability claim payment reporting to the company’s insurance captive, maintaining loss data for actuarial analysis, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) financial control requirements. This role partners closely with claims, actuarial, accounting, and external service providers to ensure data integrity, financial accuracy, and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Loss Reporting & Captive Financial Support
- Prepare and submit monthly Workers’ Co
mpensation and Liability claim payment reports to the company’s insurance captive - Reconcile and validate claim payment activity across internal systems and third-party administrators
- Support captive financial reporting by ensuring completeness and accuracy of loss data
Actuarial Data & Reserve Support
- Maintain and update loss data files for quarterly actuarial reserve reviews
- Coordinate with actuarial partners to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of data submissions
- Assist in analyzing loss trends and claim development to support reserve adequacy and renewal processes
SOX Controls & Financial Compliance
- Prepare and execute monthly and quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) financial controls related to loss reporting and captive accounting
- Document and maintain control support in compliance with audit requirements
- Partner with internal and external auditors to support testing and review processes
Data Analytics & Process Improvement
- Identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement in claims and financial reporting data
- Enhance reporting processes, controls, and data quality within risk finance systems
- Support ad hoc analysis related to insurance programs, loss experience, and risk financing initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in business related program or equivalent education and or work experience with an emphasis in math statistics accounting and or finance required.
- 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, insurance, or risk management. 2 plus years of analytical experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Workers’ Compensation and Liability claims and loss data preferred
- Experience with financial controls, SOX compliance, or audit support preferred
- Advanced Excel skills with ability to manage large data sets and perform reconciliations; experience utilizing Copilot and Claude preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
