Description
The Opportunity:
Join a mission‑critical DoD modernization effort supporting a major financial and acquisitions system relied on for more than 20 years. You will play a key role administering and optimizing Oracle databases as the program transitions from legacy infrastructure to a modern RHEL‑based, container‑enabled technical stack.
You can leverage your Oracle expertise to ensure high availability, security, and performance for production environments supporting a national‑level customer. You will collaborate with system administrators, developers, security teams, and DevSecOps engineers to design robust database solutions that drive program success.
You will contribute directly to modernizing infrastructure by applying your Oracle 19c, DataGuard, Linux, and Windows expertise to a highly visible, high‑impact program.
Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, administer, and maintain Oracle Database environments (primarily 19c) across Linux and Windows platforms.
• Implement, manage, and monitor Oracle DataGuard for high availability, replication, and disaster recovery (required).
• Perform database tuning, query optimization, capacity planning, and performance troubleshooting.
• Support deployments, upgrades, schema changes, and release activities in coordination with developers and functional/technical teams.
• Ensure database security compliance, including baseline hardening, patching, auditing, and STIG‑aligned configuration.
• Manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and program‑approved backup tools.
• Diagnose and resolve complex database issues across dev, test, and production environments.
• Maintain database documentation, operational runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
• Collaborate with application, DevSecOps, system administration, and cybersecurity teams to integrate database services with CI/CD pipelines and secure architectures.
• Participate in on‑call or after‑hours maintenance windows as required to support mission‑critical availability.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active Top Secret clearance.
• 5+ years of hands‑on Oracle DBA experience supporting enterprise production environments.
• Demonstrated expertise with Oracle DataGuard implementation and administration (mandatory).
• Strong experience with Oracle 19c installation, configuration, tuning, and lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in Linux (RHEL preferred) and familiarity with Windows‑based Oracle environments.
• Experience with RMAN backup/recovery, performance tuning, and database security best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database and infrastructure issues across multiple teams.
• Strong understanding of high availability, replication, and disaster recovery architectures.
• Solid communication and documentation skills, with ability to collaborate across technical and functional teams.
Desired:
• Experience supporting DoD, federal financial systems, or other high‑security environments.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized or cloud‑adjacent architectures.
• Experience working with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or other monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of STIGs, DISA compliance, and secure database configuration.
• Certifications such as Oracle OCP/OCA, Linux+, RHCSA, or related DBA credentials.
