Description

Overview

Dartmouth Radiation Oncology and Applied Sciences, with the Dartmouth Cancer Center and Geisel School of Medicine, seeks a part-time (0.5 FTE) faculty medical physicist to support our clinical, educational, and research goals. The successful candidate will work within a team including ten physicists to provide support across our network of 5 affiliated clinics in NH and VT. The ability to work on site in the region is preferred, but opportunities for remote support will be considered. This position includes rich opportunities for teaching and research collaboration with faculty at the Cancer Center, Geisel School of Medicine, Thayer School of Engineering with CAMPEP-accredited graduate program in medical physics, The Dartmouth Institute, and Dartmouth College. Faculty appointment at the Geisel School of Medicine is commensurate with qualifications. Career development for the successful candidate is a high priority of our leadership.

Facilities and Equipment:

The DHMC Radiation Oncology clinic in Lebanon treats between 1,000-1,100 patients annually, with additional regional services provided in St. Johnsbury, VT, Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington VT, and Manchester, NH. The Dartmouth Health network is currently served by 10 linear accelerators, including Varian TrueBeam/EDGE accelerators for IGRT/SBRT/SRS treatments and a ViewRay MRIdian accelerator for MR-guided therapy.  HDR brachytherapy, TBI and TSET therapy, and radionuclide treatments are also provided.  Treatment planning and oncology services management are performed using Varian ARIA and Eclipse environments. Treatments are delivered with active surface monitoring using VisionRT, intrafraction x-ray imaging, and with Cherenkov emission imaging. Radiation Oncology at Dartmouth has a very strong history in translational research and participation in national clinical trials, exceptional graduate education and research records, and an active medical physics residency program.

Environment:

The Dartmouth Health Radiation Oncology clinics are centered in the Upper Connecticut River Valley on the NH and VT border. Home to Dartmouth College, the Upper Valley is a vibrant, academic and professional community offering excellent schools, lively arts, and an unmatched quality of life in a beautiful, rural setting. Amenities associated with urban areas in Boston MA, Burlington VT, and Montreal, QC are all within a few hours drive. U.S. News & World Report has consistently ranked DHMC as One of America’s Best Hospitals.
