Reporting to the Project Manager and working in collaboration with the Engineering, Construction and Commissioning teams, the Electrical Package Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of all electrical packages on life sciences and technology projects. The role ensures electrical systems are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest safety and quality standards.
The Electrical Package Manager provides leadership to subcontractors, suppliers and design interfaces, ensuring systems are installed, tested and handed over efficiently in compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Package Management
- Develop and implement package execution plans, schedules and budgets for electrical systems
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers delivering electrical works, ensuring performance meets project standards
- Oversee procurement, logistics and installation of electrical materials, equipment and switchgear
- Monitor progress, manage variations and maintain cost control
Quality, Safety and Compliance
- Ensure electrical systems comply with design specifications, project drawings and industry standards (e.g. IEC, BS, NFPA, IEEE)
- Maintain health, safety and environmental standards across all electrical works
- Review and approve quality documentation including ITPs, method statements, FATs and SATs
- Support commissioning and handover by ensuring deliverables are complete and verified
Coordination and Communication
- Act as primary point of contact for all electrical package delivery matters
- Coordinate with mechanical, process, instrumentation and BMS packages to ensure seamless integration
- Lead electrical package meetings, providing progress updates and risk reports to project leadership
- Liaise with clients, consultants and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and stakeholder alignment
Experience
Essential
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, fire alarms and life safety systems
- Proven experience managing electrical packages on large-scale construction or engineering projects
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with ability to manage subcontractor performance
- Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards relevant to electrical works
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable
- Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centre or advanced manufacturing projects
- Familiarity with commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) requirements
- Knowledge of control systems, instrumentation and BMS integration
- Experience using BIM and digital project delivery tools
- Commercial awareness, including contract administration and cost management
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
- Demonstrated experience in electrical project or package management on Tier 1 projects
- Relevant health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS or equivalent)
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional membership (e.g. Engineers Ireland, IET, CIBSE)
- Postgraduate qualification in project management or construction management
- Vendor-specific training or certification in switchgear, power distribution or control systems
- Training in GMP, cleanroom or other regulatory compliance relevant to life sciences and technology sectors
