Description

Responsible for completing maintenance and maintaining proper operation of 2 Wastewater Treatment Plants to ensure all Federal and State effluent quality standards are met.DUTIES:
•Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and control systems.
•Conduct visual equipment inspections for corrosion, wear, damage, and proper component integrity; notify appropriate personnel for needed repairs.
•Monitor operational parameters to identify anomalies including noise levels, vibration, temperatures, pressures, and airflow; notify appropriate personnel of potential issues.
•Inspect and maintain lubrication and filtration systems, checking oil levels, assessing oil quality, and evaluating filter conditions.
•Review and verify instrumentation and controls functionality including gauges, sensors, and control panel indicators.
•Utilize the computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) software to maintain accurate maintenance records and assist in preparing equipment condition reports.
WATER RECLAMATION MAINTENANCE TECH I DUTIES:
•Assist with routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and control systems.
•Assist with visual equipment inspections for corrosion, wear, damage, and proper component integrity; notify appropriate personnel for needed repairs.
•Assist with monitoring operational parameters to identify anomalies including noise levels, vibration, temperatures, pressures, and airflow; notify appropriate personnel of potential issues.
•Assist with inspection and maintenance of lubrication and filtration systems, checking oil levels, assessing oil quality, and evaluating filter conditions.
WATER RECLAMATION MAINTENANCE TECH II DUTIES:
•Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and control systems.
•Conduct visual equipment inspections for corrosion, wear, damage, and proper component integrity; notify appropriate personnel for needed repairs.
•Monitor operational parameters to identify anomalies including noise levels, vibration, temperatures, pressures, and airflow; notify appropriate personnel of potential issues.
•Inspect and maintain lubrication and filtration systems, checking oil levels, assessing oil quality, and evaluating filter conditions.
•Review and verify instrumentation and controls functionality including gauges, sensors, and control panel indicators.
WATER RECLAMATION MAINTENANCE TECH III DUTIES:
•Learn lift station locations and protocols for performing station operation and maintenance checks.
•Understand and perform duties involving system process flows and shutdown requirements, as appropriate.
•Utilize the computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) software to maintain accurate maintenance records and assist in preparing equipment condition reports.
•Complete minor adjustments, cleaning, and tightening of accessible fasteners on equipment.
WATER RECLAMATION MAINTENANCE TECH IV DUTIES:
Assist with development, revision and adherence of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols including, but not limited to, Confined Space and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, City and department policies and procedures, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•Assist with training and orientating staff to facility locations, lift stations, and equipment.
•Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and control systems.
•Conduct visual equipment inspections for corrosion, wear, damage, and proper component integrity; notify appropriate personnel for needed repairs.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:Water Reclamation Maintenance Tech I
- High School diploma or equivalent; and,
- One (1) year experience in mechanical equipment operation/use, or related field; and,
- If not already possess, must have and maintain valid Grade “D” Wastewater Treatment License issued from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within 24 months of employment,
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- High School diploma or equivalent; and,
- Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical equipment operation/use, or related field; and,
- Must have valid Grade “C” Wastewater Treatment License issued from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ),
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- High School diploma or equivalent; and,
- Three (3) years’ experience in mechanical equipment operation/use, or related field; and,
- Must have valid Grade “B” Wastewater Treatment License issued from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ),
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
- High School diploma or equivalent; and,
- Six (6) years’ experience in mechanical equipment operation/use, or related field; and,
- Must have valid Grade “A” Wastewater Treatment License issued from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ),
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) and a good driving record OR must possess a valid Class C driver license with a good driving record and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within six (6) months of employment.
- Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.
- Must pass a physical examination.
- Depending on Water Reclamation Technician Level:
- If not already possess, must have and maintain valid Grade “D” Wastewater Treatment License issued from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within 24 months of employment TO
- Must have valid Grade “A” Wastewater Treatment License issued from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Depending on Water Reclamation Technician Level:
SAFETY
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): Yes.
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; require use of hand and pneumatic tools, grinders, hoists, forklift, dump truck, and motor vehicle; wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Posture: Prolonged sitting, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding, use of mouse, and reaching.
- Lifting: Lifting no more than 50 pounds and carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Environment: Works outside with exposure sun, heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather, untreated sewage water, noise, chemicals, odors, hazardous gases, heights, depths, electrical components, potentially hazardous conditions, uneven ground, and rough terrain; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
- Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work overtime and respond to after-hour emergencies, as needed.
