2027 Medical Fellowship Program Cohort

Symbiotix and Sciterion North America are the flagship Medical Communications agencies within Havas Health North America. The Medical Fellow collaborates closely with Clinical and Account Services teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of project scope, client objectives, and strategic expectations.

The primary responsibility of the Medical Fellow is to develop scientifically accurate, educational content aligned with client strategies and tailored to specific audiences, including healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and internal pharmaceutical stakeholders. Leveraging their clinical knowledge from an advanced degree program, the Medical Fellow ensures all content meets client, legal, regulatory, and scientific standards.

This position supports one or more senior members of the Clinical department and collaborates with colleagues in other departments to complete cross-functional projects. The Medical Fellow applies scientific expertise to research, analyze, and communicate complex disease-state and pharmaceutical information in a clear, engaging, and accurate manner.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical thinking, exceptional written communication skills, attention to detail, effective project management, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative agency environment. The Medical Fellow is expected to become proficient in the science, strategy, and market dynamics of the brands and therapeutic areas they support.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced scientific and clinical knowledge to develop a strong understanding of assigned therapeutic areas, products, and client objectives.
  • Independently evaluate and interpret scientific literature, clinical data, and healthcare information to support content development and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop high-quality educational and medical communications materials, including slide presentations, interactive learning modules, manuscripts, training materials, video scripts, digital content, meeting materials, and other deliverables tailored to healthcare providers, patients, or internal teams.
  • Determine relevant scientific evidence and clinical data for inclusion in deliverables while ensuring accuracy, balance, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and participate in internal and client meetings as assigned.
  • Understand project scope, timelines, and allocated hours; proactively escalate potential risks, challenges, or out-of-scope requests.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks and leverage available resources (e.g., manager, teammates, shared documents, online tools) to solve problems effectively.
  • Ensure all content complies with client, legal, regulatory, and medical standards.
  • Accurately track and report time worked in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support additional projects, administrative responsibilities, and ad hoc departmental initiatives as needed.

Ideal Experience / Candidate Profile

  • Advanced medical or scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD preferred).
  • Previous experience in medical communications, medical writing, healthcare communications, pharmaceutical industry settings, research, internships, preceptorships, or related environments is preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

FLSA Status: Exempt


Location-dependent Compensation:

  • Lexington, KY: $85,000 annually
  • New York, NY: $95,000 annually

Work Location: Fellows will report on a hybrid basis to one of the following office locations:

  • 200 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10016
  • 4040 Finn Way, Lexington, KY 40517
