The successful candidate will be responsible for providing design and technical support to shipyard production teams, resolving machinery outfitting-related issues, updating production drawings, and ensuring design accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project specifications and applicable marine standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide construction and production support for machinery outfitting activities in marine and shipbuilding projects.
  • Prepare, review, and revise machinery outfitting design deliverables, including:
    • Machinery arrangement and equipment layout drawings
    • Machinery space layouts and equipment positioning
    • Equipment foundations, seating arrangements, and supporting structures
    • Machinery installation and interface drawings
    • Access, maintenance clearance, and equipment servicing arrangements
    • Production, fabrication, and installation drawings
    • 2D drawings and 3D models for machinery outfitting systems
  • Review shop drawings and production information to identify discrepancies and resolve design-related issues.
  • Provide technical support to shipyard production teams for machinery installation, assembly, and construction activities.
  • Resolve technical queries (TQs), production issues, drawing discrepancies, and installation-related design problems.
  • Incorporate engineering changes, production feedback, and redline mark-ups into drawings and 3D models.
  • Coordinate with Hull Structure, Piping, HVAC, Electrical, Instrumentation, and other outfitting disciplines to ensure proper design integration and avoid clashes.
  • Review vendor drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documentation to ensure compatibility with machinery outfitting arrangements.
  • Ensure machinery layouts and installation drawings comply with project specifications, applicable marine standards, and shipyard construction requirements.
  • Support constructability reviews and identify potential design conflicts or installation constraints before execution.
  • Maintain updated production drawings, design records, and technical documentation in accordance with project procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, equipment vendors, and production personnel to ensure timely resolution of design issues.
  • Support as-built drawing updates and incorporate final production modifications, where required.
  • Ensure design deliverables are completed within agreed project schedules and quality requirements.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in machinery outfitting design within marine, shipbuilding, shipyard, or offshore vessel projects.
  • Hands-on experience in Construction Support (CS), production support, and production drawing modifications.
  • Strong experience in machinery arrangement, equipment layout, machinery installation, and associated outfitting design activities.
  • Proficiency in marine 3D design software, preferably AVEVA Marine / Hull & Outfitting, or other shipbuilding CAD software accepted by the client.
  • Experience preparing and modifying 2D production drawings, 3D models, equipment layouts, and machinery installation drawings.
  • Good understanding of machinery foundations, equipment seating, installation clearances, maintenance access, and multidisciplinary interfaces.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, vendor documentation, shop drawings, and production mark-ups.
  • Experience resolving technical queries and supporting shipyard production teams during construction and installation activities.
  • Familiarity with marine classification requirements, applicable shipbuilding standards, and project specifications.
  • Experience coordinating with Hull Structure, Piping, HVAC, Electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in new-build shipbuilding projects, offshore vessels, FPSOs, or similar marine engineering projects is preferred.
  • Exposure to international shipyards, marine EPC contractors, or multidisciplinary engineering environments is preferred.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, drawing interpretation, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a project-driven engineering and shipyard production environment.
