Job Title:

Director, Data Center Design Management

Company:

Prologis

A day in the life

As Director, Data Center Design Management, you will establish and lead a multidisciplinary architectural and engineering design team supporting hyperscale greenfield and retrofit data center projects. You will oversee design delivery from concept through construction completion, with accountability for technical excellence, operational resilience, cost efficiency, quality, and consistency. You will partner daily with Prologis data center, development, and deployment teams and coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunications, and security experts. The role drives disciplined design execution, stakeholder alignment, and continuous improvement across the project portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

·  Lead multidisciplinary design delivery for new-build and retrofit data center projects from concept through construction completion, aligning company standards, client requirements, functionality, and performance goals.

·  Establish and maintain standardized design frameworks, tools, techniques, and processes that improve clarity, consistency, sustainability, and speed-to-market across projects.

·  Lead internal and external teams through test fits, development master planning, design milestones, construction administration, and design change management while protecting design intent and resolving design-related construction challenges.

·  Define project design scope, budgets, risks, and hard and soft development costs; track progress and design deliverables against milestones, budget, and project objectives.

·  Conduct design reviews and value engineering exercises, researching design and construction alternatives that optimize cost, performance, functionality, and life-cycle considerations.

·  Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, including real estate and finance teams, clients, contractors, consultants, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction, to support decisions, permitting, entitlements, and timely approvals.

·  Drive quality and continuous improvement by incorporating relevant design advancements, confirming compliance with applicable codes, standards, and certifications, and documenting and sharing lessons learned across the program.

Building blocks for success

Required:

·  7+ years of experience with a strong focus on data center design management.

·  Experience managing data center design and construction processes for greenfield and retrofit projects.

·  Ability to travel approximately 30% as necessary to support projects.

Preferred:

·  Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.

·  Professional licensure as a Registered Architect or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

·  Experience managing CSA and MEP systems design for large-scale data center projects, including MV/LV, telecommunications, and security systems.

·  Experience using relevant design and project tools, including AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Bluebeam, MS Project, Google Earth, ACAD Viewer, PowerPoint, and general Microsoft tools.

·  Clear written and verbal communication, prioritization, and stakeholder coordination skills in a multi-project environment.

·  Demonstrates willingness and capability to leverage emerging technology, automation, and AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and speed. Exercises sound judgment, creative thinking, and accountability for outcomes.

Hiring Salary Range of: $160,000 - $200,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target & LTI (Long Term Incentives)) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
