Job Description:
Position Title: Lunchroom SupervisorReports To: Assistant Principals
Starting Salary: $18.24 per hour
Work Schedule:
• Monday through Friday
• 10:15 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
• School calendar (student contact days)
Position Summary
The Lunchroom Supervisor is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive cafeteria environment during student lunch periods. This position supervises students, reinforces school expectations, promotes respectful behavior, and assists with the efficient operation of the lunchroom while ensuring students have adequate time to eat and socialize appropriately.
The Lunchroom Supervisor serves as a positive role model by building relationships with students, encouraging appropriate behavior, and helping create a welcoming school culture.
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Supervision
• Provide active supervision of students during all assigned lunch periods.
• Monitor student behavior to ensure a safe, respectful, and orderly lunch environment.
• Reinforce Aspen View Academy's behavior expectations and school policies.
• Address minor student behavior concerns promptly, fairly, and consistently.
• Refer significant or ongoing discipline concerns to administration when appropriate.
• Encourage respectful interactions and positive social behavior among students.
• Assist students with problem-solving and conflict resolution when appropriate.
Cafeteria Operations
• Help ensure smooth arrival and dismissal procedures for each lunch period.
• Assist with maintaining orderly lunch lines and student traffic flow.
• Monitor seating arrangements and student movement throughout the cafeteria.
• Encourage students to clean up after themselves and take pride in keeping the cafeteria clean.
• Work collaboratively with food service staff to support efficient lunch operations.
• Monitor for food allergies and other student safety concerns as directed by administration.
Safety and Student Well-Being
• Maintain continuous awareness of student activities throughout assigned areas.
• Respond appropriately to student illnesses, injuries, or emergencies by notifying appropriate personnel.
• Ensure students follow cafeteria safety expectations.
• Report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or unusual incidents to administration promptly.
• Support safe transitions to and from lunch.
School Climate
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations.
• Model professionalism, kindness, patience, and respect.
• Help create a positive lunch experience where students feel safe, included, and valued.
• Encourage good manners, responsibility, and appropriate social interactions.
Additional Responsibilities
• Assist with light lunchroom organization as needed between lunch periods.
• Attend required staff meetings or trainings related to student supervision and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or administrative team that support the successful operation of the school.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, recreation, or related setting preferred.
• Ability to positively supervise large groups of elementary and middle school students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent in managing student behavior.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain if required).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong student supervision and classroom management skills.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to supervise students indoors and outdoors, when necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to respond quickly to student needs and emergency situations.
Work Environment
The Lunchroom Supervisor works primarily in the school cafeteria. The position requires frequent
interaction with students, staff, and visitors and involves supervising a busy, active environment while
maintaining safety and positive student behavior.

Responsibilities:
--- Report observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, appropriate and inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
--- Perform general clerical tasks for the purpose of assisting teachers with instructional material.
