POSITION SPECIFICS

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Department of Graphic Design in the Stuckeman School at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Lecturer position. This is a term, non-tenure-line appointment with an initial one-year term. Reappointment is possible based on performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.

Responsibilities

The Lecturer will teach undergraduate courses in Graphic Design, with teaching assignments based on departmental needs and the successful candidate's expertise. Typical teaching responsibilities include three courses per semester.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field; an MFA or other graduate degree is welcome but not required
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating active design practice, with depth in core graphic design areas including typography and visual systems
  • Demonstrated teaching ability and a commitment to excellence in instruction.
  • A demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming learning environment, or a thoughtful statement describing how they would contribute to these efforts if appointed.
