Description
We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Senior Deal Originator to generate high-quality deal flow and build a strong pipeline of prospective insurance and financial transactions. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, sound business judgement and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills to evaluate opportunities, structure viable transactions and cultivate lasting client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Drive business development initiatives across multiple market segments and geographies.
- Originate, review and assess complex transactions for bankability, commercial viability and potential risk coverage.
- Evaluate deal structures, contractual terms, industry risks and project risks before handing transactions over to underwriting.
- Advise clients on commercial and non-commercial risks, coverage options, and applicable terms and conditions.
- Lead cross-functional deal teams from origination and execution through to financial close.
- Build relationships with financiers, corporate executives, directors, senior government officials and other key stakeholders.
- Work closely with underwriting and internal business units to develop innovative client solutions.
- Prepare high-quality strategies, deal pipeline reports, presentations and papers for executive management and the Board.
- Represent the organisation at conferences, networking events and media engagements.
- Mentor graduates or less experienced team members when required.
Requirements:
- A relevant degree specialising in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Banking, Science, Law, Engineering or another commercial or technical discipline.
- At least five years’ transactional experience in deal origination, business development, sales planning, deal structuring, project finance, corporate finance, political risk underwriting or risk management.
- Sound knowledge of international business, contractual practices, corporate finance and accounting.
- Strong financial analysis, credit assessment, risk management and commercial negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to evaluate complex transaction structures and identify commercially viable opportunities.
- Excellent client relationship, stakeholder management and cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the confidence to engage at ministerial, Board and executive levels.
- French or Portuguese proficiency would be advantageous.
- Exceptional problem-solving, planning, attention to detail and deadline-management capabilities.
- Willingness to travel and work beyond ordinary business hours when required.
