SUMMARY:
To operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customers’ purchases, receive payment, and assist in bagging purchases for customers. Responsible for assisting customers in a friendly and courteous manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Practice courteous, friendly customer service at all times.
- Knowledgeable of product location in store.
- Understands the proper use of check stand equipment (register, scanner, scale, printers).
- Execute and follow all financial transactions procedures including, but not limited to, cash, checks, charges, credit cards, WIC, gift certificates, rain checks, voids and coupons.
- Understand and implement all of current store programs, weekly specials, coupons and ads.
- Ensure proper vendor check-in according to store procedures.
- Comply with all policies regarding the sale of tobacco products and certain over the counter drugs.
- Utilize correct cash handling procedures and maintains an acceptable level of variance in cash drawer.
- Maintain a clean and safe check out area.
- When requested stock shelves, rotate product per stocking instructions. Maintain checkout and front end area by cleaning glass, floors and shelves.
- Handle all other projects and duties as assigned.

- Held accountable, to the highest degree, for the control, accuracy and thoroughness of all expenses, records and reports.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
- Manage staff members as defined by the organizational structure by providing guidance and leadership for the department.
- Hire, train, coach and develop associates by utilizing all available resources for development opportunities.
- Supervises various associates as assigned by .
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience, previous customer service or retail store experience preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities, and work in a fast paced environment.
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
- Responsible for following all relevant DGR’s.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complicated documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Talk and hear;

- Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.
- Must occasionally exert or lift up to 50 pounds carrying bulk or industrial-sized containers of grocery items and frequently exert or lift moderate amounts of weight.
- Must have sufficient memory retention skills to memorize weekly ad prices and daily produce specials
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:
