Position Summary

The Supervisor Manufacturing Cell leads a specialized team responsible for warranty evaluation and root cause analysis of returned industrial compressors. This role serves as the primary liaison between Manufacturing, Service, Engineering, Quality, and Union production personnel to investigate product performance issues, identify corrective actions, and drive continuous product improvement.

The position oversees compressor teardown activities, failure analysis, technical reporting, and customer disposition communications. The supervisor ensures accurate documentation of findings, supports warranty and quality initiatives, and provides technical leadership in resolving complex compressor-related issues.

Team/Function Overview

The Manufacturing Cell team serves as the technical hub for compressor warranty investigations and product failure analysis. The team works closely with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Quality, Service, and Customer Support organizations to determine root causes of field failures and improve product reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the Manufacturing Cell and warranty evaluation process.

  • Supervise the teardown and inspection of returned compressors and major components.

  • Coordinate investigations involving Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Service teams.

  • Perform and oversee root cause analysis of complex compressor failures.

  • Develop detailed technical reports documenting findings, corrective actions, and product disposition.

  • Communicate investigation results and recommendations to internal stakeholders and customers.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on warranty trends and field performance data.

  • Ensure timely completion of warranty evaluations and customer reports.

  • Maintain accurate records, failure databases, and reporting metrics.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to technicians and analysts.

  • Support corrective and preventive action processes

  • Interface with union manufacturing personnel to facilitate investigations and implement improvements.

  • Participate in product quality reviews and design improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of manufacturing, quality, service, or engineering experience.

  • Experience with mechanical systems, compressors, refrigeration equipment, or rotating machinery.

  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to leadership and customers.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • Experience with warranty analysis and failure investigation.

  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or quality certification.

  • Knowledge of compressor manufacturing and refrigeration systems.

  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment.

SALARY RANGE: $85,000 -$127,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance.  This position includes a competitive benefits package.
