Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

If so, Thielen Student Health Center at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Pharmacist!
This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week and a 10-month appointment. The position offers a balanced work schedule and excellent university benefits.
What You'll Do:
Dispense and verify prescription medications, refill requests, and vaccine administration.
Review patient medication profiles to identify drug interactions, allergies, therapeutic duplications, and appropriateness of therapy.
Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, drug interactions, and self-care treatment options.
Assist patients with insurance, billing, medication access, and pharmacy-related questions.
Collaborate with healthcare providers on formulary decisions, therapeutic alternatives, and medication management.
Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, controlled substances, expiration monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate prescription records, inventory documentation, audits, and pharmacy system data.
Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA, FERPA, accreditation standards, and institutional policies.
Coordinate prescription transfers between pharmacies and support continuity of patient care.
Monitor pharmacy safety, report hazards, oversee pharmacy access controls, and support risk management activities.
Mentor pharmacy interns and student employees on pharmacy operations, medication counseling, and professional standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a university health center.
Experience mentoring student employees, student workers, and/or interns.
Experience providing consultations related to mental health medications, preferably with young adult populations.

Thielen Student Health Center (TSHC), located next to State Gym and Beyer Hall on campus, provides all of the same services that standard medical clinics can. Students can be seen for illness or injuries, have tests done, receive immunizations, get a physical or check-up, have their prescriptions filled, receive physical therapy, and more.
