Parametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on what is important to them and their clients. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The operations department consists of a team of professionals that focuses on the overall operations of Parametric. This group ensures the production process is complete from start to finish and lines up with the goals and functions of other departments within the firm. Examples include supervising, organizing and completing daily production, measuring and evaluating daily workload, and providing services to ensure the business runs as smoothly and effectively as possible.

THE ROLE
The Data Operations Associate is responsible for updating, coordinating and delivering the daily operations of the Data Operations team. The Analyst needs to have subject matter expertise in Instrument data, its application, and the various business rules that govern it to ensure our business runs smoothly.

The role requires great communication, solid analytics, high curiosity, and strong attention to detail. This role works closely with the Investment Operations department staff, Portfolio Managers, Information Technology, and other teams. The position also has an element of project work/management, and the ideal candidate should be comfortable working on Automation project and escalating blocks as they arise. This could include the creation of Tableau Dashboards, ETL solutions, and SQL queries.

The person in this role must feel comfortable with always completing or demonstrating best practices in work as well as being able to work with a level of ambiguity and little guidance at times.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the delivering accurate and timely processing of Data Mastering exceptions, including Security, Pricing, and Benchmarks across multiple office locations.
  • Performs wide array of developmental functions including supporting valuation requests and security creation, Identify and resolve data quality issues
  • Contribute to team meetings and process reviews.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects with analysts, portfolio managers, and technology teams.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of industry practices and controls.
  • Reviews and recommend new methods and procedures to make daily operations in the department more efficient/effective.
  • Understand business continuity, data security, and regulatory audit requirements
  • Explore data lineage and audit activities within the Data Operations process
  • Identifies challenge areas and executes plans for improvement.
  • Understanding of key department processes around corporate actions, pricing, and security maintenance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or MBA w/ concentration in finance or accounting
  • 3-6 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with market reference data experience
  • Competent in Microsoft Office programs, familiarity with APX, Markit Corporate Actions, or Bloomberg a plus
  • Well organized self-starter with the ability to analyze information and support the staff
  • Must be able to display strong work ethics
  • Must have strong professionalism and communication skills
  • Displays excellent organization, time management, and planning skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others
  • Experience with reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau or similar is preferred
  • Displays high attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness, and thoughtfulness. Commitment to meeting identified quality and efficiency standards
  • General knowledge of scripting and basic programming concepts, such as Python
  • Experience working on Alteryx and remediation of Alteryx workflows is must
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL (Microsoft SQL Server)
