Data Engineer – Finance Analytics (Junior)

Role Summary

We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer – Finance Analytics to support financial data analysis, reporting, and data pipeline development. This role focuses on ensuring accurate, reliable financial data while gradually building data engineering capabilities such as ETL workflows and data pipeline optimization.

You will work closely with finance stakeholders to support processes like GL, AP, AR, and budgeting, while leveraging modern data tools to improve efficiency and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

·       Support financial data analysis and reporting activities for business stakeholders

·       Build and maintain SQL queries for finance datasets and reporting needs

·       Perform data extraction, transformation, and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data

·       Collaborate with finance teams to understand and support processes such as General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and budgeting

·       Assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for finance-related data

·       Ensure data quality, reconciliation, and integrity checks for financial reporting

·       Document workflows, datasets, and logic for transparency and audit purposes

·       Provide ad hoc analysis and support to finance and business stakeholders

·       Support troubleshooting, issue investigation, and basic root-cause analysis

·       Follow best practices in data governance, security, and compliance

Requirements

·       1–3 years of experience in finance analytics, data analytics, or related roles

·       Strong proficiency in SQL; basic knowledge of Python is an advantage

·       Mandatory understanding of finance fundamentals: P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow

·       Experience handling structured datasets and data processing

·       Basic understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipelines

·       Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Databricks) is beneficial

·       Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and validation

·       Good communication skills and ability to work with both finance and technical teams

·       Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn data engineering tools
