About the role
Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) is part of the Rio Tinto Group and comprises developments and operations in Australia, North America, South America, India and Africa. Rio Tinto Iron Ore is a leading global supplier of iron ore, and iron ore concentrates. The business directly employs over 18,000 people across five continents in addition to several thousand contractors.
RTIO China Team manages daily communication with customers on implement of company’s sales policy, ensuring contract performance, providing market information to help management work out sales strategy.
RTIO China Southern team oversees about 30 accounts including traders and steel mill customers in Southern China.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Iron Ore China Southern Region, you will:
Own and coordinate activities at assigned accounts to enhance Rio Tinto's position in China as a preferred partner through deep understanding of product VIU and close collaboration with steel mills.
Support the South team and the Senior Account Manager to ensure contract performance, maintain/grow market share and develop niche product options.
Liaise with various internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and timely execution of LTC, TC and SPOT contracts.
Support the Senior Account Manager to implement the agreed RTIO marketing strategy as well on strategic account management.
Facilitate reliable customer service and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
Build and maintain an effective relationship with industry bodies, provide and interpret the market data / intelligence for management reference.
Comply with the law, The way we work and other Rio Tinto policies and standards, and conduct business with integrity.
Undertake compliance training in accordance with requirements, and report compliance concerns, issues and incidents.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
Bachelor’s degree or above, majored in marketing, economics, finance, geosciences or engineering
>8 years sales experience in a multinational environment, understanding of Steel Industry, mining and/or international shipping industry is preferred
Fluent in English and Mandarin
Strong customer focus, highly developed interpersonal skills, and good at relationship management with diverse stakeholders
Strong team spirit
Ability to work to deadlines and follow through on commitments
Can travel extensively up to 75% of working time
