About the role
As a Junior Delivery Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping shape and deliver discovery and client experience design initiatives across HL. Working closely with Delivery, Research and Design Leads, you’ll help ensure work is well planned, clearly briefed, appropriately resourced and delivered effectively.You’ll support the smooth day-to-day running of experience design activity by managing schedules, tracking capacity, spotting risks, dependencies and bottlenecks, and keeping delivery plans on track so our designers can focus on creating great client experiences. Acting as a central point of coordination for the Experience Design & Research team, you’ll build strong relationships across Product, Engineering, Transformation Office, Compliance, Marketing and other business areas to improve visibility, alignment and workflow.
You’ll also support the Delivery Lead in embedding consistent delivery practices, maintaining good delivery hygiene and helping evolve the client experience design operating model.
What you’ll be doing
- Co-ordinate the day-to-day delivery of client experience design initiatives, ensuring work is clearly scoped, briefed, organised, and progresses through the appropriate design governance processes.
- Maintain team schedules, capacity and allocations, keeping an accurate view of availability and highlighting short-term resourcing challenges to the Delivery Lead and Design Leads.
- Track timelines, deadlines, dependencies and risks, escalating issues to the Delivery Lead and Design Leads where required to support delivery progress and confidence.
- Facilitate planning and workflow rituals (e.g. kick-off and briefing calls, design reviews, weekly team planning calls), ensuring designers have the clarity and structure needed to deliver high-quality outputs.
- Maintain up-to-date delivery documentation, including plans, schedules and project boards, supporting transparency and good delivery hygiene.
- Act as a point of coordination between the design team and cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, Marketing, Compliance, etc.), supporting alignment, transparency and the smooth progression of work.
- Provide clear and timely delivery updates to the Delivery Lead and Design Leads, highlighting progress, capacity, blockers and support required across active initiatives.
- Support the adoption of delivery practices, standards and tooling, encouraging consistent ways of working and helping to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with the Research Delivery Manager to coordinate experience design work that intersects with research timelines, insights or validation activities.
- Promote a calm, structured and organised delivery environment, helping to create the conditions for designers to focus on craft quality and client outcomes.
About you
- 1–3 years' experience in delivery management, project co-ordination, PMO, operations or similar roles within digital, product, design or research environments, ideally supporting multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working in an agency or in-house environment is beneficial, with an understanding of how multiple workstreams, changing priorities and stakeholder needs are managed.
- Good understanding of UX design workflows and how design collaborates with Product, Engineering, Marketing and Compliance functions.
- Experience maintaining schedules, tracking capacity and supporting resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
- Comfortable facilitating delivery planning and workflow rituals, helping teams maintain structure, clarity and alignment.
- Experience maintaining delivery artefacts such as plans, schedules and project boards, with strong attention to detail and delivery hygiene.
- Ability to track progress, identify risks and dependencies, and escalate issues appropriately when required.
- Effective communicator, able to provide clear and concise updates to internal stakeholders and team members.
- Comfortable using delivery and collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Monday, Excel, Miro, Figma and Confluence) to support planning, tracking and operational visibility.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain momentum across a busy workload.
- Proactive and solution-focused, with a willingness to identify bottlenecks, support continuous improvement and contribute to more efficient ways of working.
- Keen to learn and develop delivery management expertise within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Interview process
The interview process for this role will be a two stage interview consisting of competency based questions and a presentation task.
Working Schedule
The Junior Delivery Manager role is a Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Our office is based in Bristol, BS1 5HL. Hybrid working is available where only 2-3 days a week is required in the office.
