The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: October 2026 through April 2027. (Dates vary by location and are subject to change. Must have flexibility with availability.)

Pay: $23.00/hrSchedule: Typical schedule is 40-45 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

• Admit only authorized people to buildings.
• Perform a daily exterior check on the buildings. Look for any problems such as shutters off, windows or doors open, etc.  Correct the problems found.
• Notify Engineering Director whenever leaving primary location. Daily communication with Engineering Director via satellite phone, Garmin unit, cell phone or land-line.
• Report any major problems immediately to the Engineering office.
• Do a thorough walk-thru of the property weekly. Make sure the heat and lights are off in areas where no work is occurring at that time.
• Respond to alarm calls and reset as needed.
• Shovel and/or plow snow in areas where needed (doorways, decks, room interiors where snow has blown in, etc.)
• Return any lost item that is found on the grounds to park headquarters/ranger.
• Complete work orders, check list and other projects assigned by the Engineering office.
• Absolutely no hunting or discharging of firearms. NPS Regulations must be obeyed at all times.
• Preventive maintenance duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Remote location.
• Work is indoors and outdoors (in changing outside temperatures/weather conditions).
• Non-smoking environment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: 

• Reports directly to Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

• Requires previous building maintenance experience.
• Basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing skills are required.
• Knowledgeable of seasonal hotel maintenance operations.
• Some knowledge of State, Federal and Historical construction codes and safety regulations.
• Must have knowledge of and be able to use power tools.
• Must be at least 21 years of age per National Park Service.
• Must possess a U.S. Driver’s License, pass pre-employment drug test, and comply with Xanterra Driver Safety Program and Policy.

Physical Requirements include:

• This position may require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations. OSHA standards require a clean-shaven face and a medical screening.
• Must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess the physical stamina to withstand heavy labor-related work in an outside environment.
• Job requires standing, walking, bending, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time as required.
