Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities.Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients.To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.
- Appropriately evaluates patients in: range of motion; edema; muscle strength and endurance; sensation, reflexes, neurovascular status; soft tissue, bony palpation, passive joint mobilization; body mechanics, work efficiency, aerobic cap; activities of daily living; coordination; pain.
- Develops and implements appropriate treatments programs: orients patient and family to his/her individual treatment program; develops realistic ADL, work and leisure goals with patient; provides goal directed purposeful activities; progresses patient appropriately on all activities; reevaluates, sets new goals, and adjusts treatment programs accordingly; prepares patient for discharge; provides home programs.
- Elicits and records information about patients medical history.
- Produces timely documentation within departmental guidelines.
- Performs worksite visits when necessary to address job modifications.
- Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition.
Job Requirements
Required
- Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy, upon hire and
- Occupational Therapist: CA, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
- New grads will be considered.
Preferred
- One year of experience preferred as an O.T.R. in a physical disabilities setting, in acute care or acute rehabilitation and
- Prefer affiliation with AOTA.
- Prefer experience with rehab therapy either through educational affiliations or prior work experience.
