Starting Pay & Perks
- $15.50/hr DOE + $1.50/hr differential bumping up to a $3/hr after one year
- 20% store discount
- Paid Time Off
- Full-time employees are eligible for benefits after 90 days of employment.
What You’ll Do
- Be equipped to perform the required tasks of any bargaining unit position
- Participate in and lead meetings as required.
- Keep accurate reports following documentation protocols.
- Handle complaints and incidents in accordance with the Co-op's conflict resolution guidelines.
- Help us hit our goals for sales, profit, and new members.
- Run the register
- Train and supervise Co-op Clerks
- Negotiate supplier pricing, terms, quality, and delivery
- Build and maintain vendor and sales representative relationships
- Order inventory to ensure regular stock and supply for specials
- Request vendor credits for damaged or incorrect products
- Categorize and file invoices on time
- Maintain accurate department pricing and update POS records
- Calculate prices to meet sales, margin, and inventory goals
- Research products and market trends to improve purchasing decisions
- Partner with management to set the annual department budget
- Optimize shelf sets using sales data and customer needs
- Implement departmental resets requested by leadership
- Keep shelves stocked: Receive and organize new deliveries, making sure products are rotated and displayed attractively.

Who We're Looking For
- Genuine enthusiasm for good food, fresh produce, and quality groceries
- 2+ years of grocery or related industry buying experience
- 2+ years of service experience in a grocery, deli, bakery, or specialty store
- Thorough knowledge of production practices and agricultural terms (e.g., organic, sustainable, fair trade)
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn National Organic Standards for retailers
- Experience with pricing, margin management, product selection, and trends
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G-Suite, and POS database systems
- Ability to accept direction, guidance, and feedback with a positive attitude
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong organization, attention to detail, prioritization, and urgency
- Analytical skills and spatial awareness to understand store workflow
- Comfort with physical tasks like lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and moving in a fast-paced environment in and out of various conditions
- Exceptional interpersonal, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Willingness to learn and contribute to a diverse, collaborative workplace.
