Animal House Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team at our St. Charles location. What You'll Do
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
- Obtain patient histories and vital signs
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for appointments
- Assist with diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures
- Collect blood and other diagnostic samples as appropriate to your experience
- Assist with venipuncture and IV catheter placement as appropriate to your skills and role
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
- Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery as appropriate to your experience
- Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients
- Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
- Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations
- Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital workspaces clean, organized, and well stocked
- Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on tasks
- Support teammates and help maintain an efficient hospital workflow
- Contribute to a positive experience for every patient and client
What You'll Bring
- Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is preferred
- Hands-on experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical environment
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills
- A passion for pets and high-quality veterinary care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassion and empathy for patients, clients, coworkers, and yourself
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- The ability to multitask and remain productive in a busy veterinary environment
