About the Opportunity
The PP&E Joint Venture (JV) Director is a senior executive leadership role within Amentum International, accountable for the strategic, commercial and operational leadership of a multi‑billion‑pound defence logistics programme delivered through a Joint Venture construct.
Operating at Board level, the role provides overall direction, governance and assurance for the Joint Venture, leading a collaborative approach with our JV partner and ensuring the successful delivery of contractual commitments to the client and other key stakeholders. The JV Director acts as the senior accountable individual for performance, risk, safety, financial outcomes and stakeholder confidence across a highly regulated, mission‑critical environment.
The role requires exemplary professionalism, integrity and judgement, with a strong commitment to safety, security, quality and continuous improvement, operating fully in line with Amentum’s values, policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and lead the Joint Venture’s strategic direction, operating model and governance framework in alignment with contractual, shareholder and customer requirements
Assume full accountability for programme transition and integration, stabilisation and ongoing delivery across all functional and operational areas
Develop and maintain effective Board governance arrangements, including performance reporting, assurance, audit and decision‑making structures
Act as the primary executive interface with the client, JV partners and other senior external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, statutory and regulatory requirements, and security and assurance frameworks
Take ownership of financial performance, including budget setting, forecasting, cost control and value delivery
Set the cultural tone of the Joint Venture, embedding Amentum’s values and a strong safety‑first, performance‑driven ethos.
Team Management
Lead, mentor and develop the Joint Venture executive and senior leadership teams, creating a high‑performing, accountable and collaborative leadership environment
Foster effective collaboration between JV partners, contractors, suppliers and internal Amentum teams
Promote a positive, inclusive and values‑led culture, encouraging openness, diversity of thought and continuous improvement
Ensure clear roles, responsibilities and delegated authorities are in place across the leadership and management structure
Drive succession planning, talent development and capability building to support long‑term programme sustainability
Set clear performance objectives and hold leaders accountable for delivery against agreed targets
Functional
Provide overall executive leadership for the delivery of programme outcomes to agreed cost, schedule, quality and performance targets
Maintain full P&L accountability, including commercial strategy, financial governance, contract delivery and change control
Establish and maintain robust risk, issue and opportunity management processes, ensuring timely mitigation and escalation as required
Champion the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) performance across all JV activities
Ensure effective assurance, compliance and audit processes are in place within a highly regulated defence environment
Maintain strong, transparent and constructive relationships with senior MOD stakeholders and Joint Venture partners
Act as an ambassador for Amentum, protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation across government, industry and partner organisations
Here's What You'll Need
Strategic leadership and Board‑level decision‑making capability
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including P&L ownership
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior government and executive levels
High levels of professional integrity, resilience and sound judgement
Ability to lead effectively within complex, high‑risk and regulated environments
Degree level qualification or equivalent professional experience
MBA or equivalent executive qualification (desirable)
Relevant professional membership (e.g. Institute of Directors (IoD), Chartered Management Institute (CMI), (desirable)
Proven executive leadership experience in major programmes (£1bn+) or comparably complex delivery environments
Demonstrable experience operating within Joint Venture, alliance or multi‑partner delivery models
Experience working within UK defence, nuclear or similarly regulated sectors
Experience delivering secure, classified or mission‑critical programmes
Right to work in the UK
Ability to obtain and maintain UK security clearance (DV)
Professional membership of a relevant chartered body i.e. Chartered Quality Institute, Chartered Management Institute, etc.
