Description
The Senior Banker is a senior-level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The Senior Banker also serves as an intermediary in trading for clients. The overall objective of this role is to act as strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Understand regional and emerging market trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
- Responsible for overall parent relationship management of clients and providing a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, share repurchase, and interest rate and equity derivatives
- Drive client planning, product agnostic cross selling, client access, and effective capital allocation within the Institutional Client Groups (ICG) Coverage Banker proposition
- Translate Citi’s strategy into an effective and efficient Corporate Bank business plan
- Responsible for meeting revenue goals and other goals related to budget, risk management, and credit allocation in partnership with Global Capital Market (GCM) and Risk
- Drive innovation, differentiation, speed to market and promote cross selling of products across the full ICG platform
- Partner with Investment banking team to drive and execute episodic transactions and with key stakeholders, including Risk and GCM, to allocate capital prudently, appropriately and in adherence to all Citi risk policies
- Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards, including stringent ethical standards and anticipated future changes in the marketplace
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant experience
- Senior Credit Officer preferred
- In-depth experience managing and working across a diverse, multi-country, multi-product business with broad people management experience
- In-depth experience advising clients on debt and capital management
- Demonstrated ability to balance between internal management and external client time
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues and regulatory requirements (global and local)
- Proven leadership skills and intellectual capability to create momentum and a collective agenda across multiple products with a diverse population and competing priorities
- Demonstrated intellectual grasp of the industry and ability to anticipate and lead the organizational response to future changes and translate vision into executable plans
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business, or financial engineering program

Objetivo del Puesto
Liderar la estrategia, desarrollo y ejecución del negocio de Banca de Inversión en México, impulsando el crecimiento sostenible de ingresos mediante la originación, estructuración y cierre de transacciones de alto valor (i.e. ECM, DCM, financiamiento estructurado y M&A), asegurando el posicionamiento de Banamex como asesor líder en el mercado nacional.
Responsabilidades Clave
Estrategia y Dirección del Negocio
Definir y ejecutar la estrategia de Banca de Inversión alineada a las prioridades regionales del grupo.
Identificar oportunidades de crecimiento en sectores clave y liderar la penetración en clientes estratégicos.
Supervisar el desempeño financiero del área (i.e. ingresos, pipeline, rentabilidad).
Originación y relación con clientes e inversionistas
Desarrollar y mantener relaciones con: accionistas, CEOs, CFOs, consejos de administración, grupos corporativos, family offices, sector público y entidades estratégicas
Construir y mantener relaciones con los inversionistas: afores, bancos, fondos de inversión, family offices, bancas patrimoniales y privadas.
Liderar la originación de mandatos en: DCM, ECM, M&A, FES
Actuar como asesor de confianza (trusted advisor) en decisiones estratégicas de alto impacto.
Ejecución de Transacciones
Supervisar y garantizar la ejecución exitosa de operaciones complejas. Coordinar equipos multidisciplinarios (legal, riesgos, producto, análisis).
Liderazgo y Gestión del Talento
Dirigir y desarrollar equipos de alto desempeño (Directors, SVPs, VPs y Associates).
Identificar y desarrollar pipeline de talento senior.
Colaboración Interna
Trabajar estrechamente con: Banca Corporativa, Banca Empresarial, Banca de Gobierno, Markets/Trading, Analisis, Banca Patrimonial y Privada
Impulsar sinergias comerciales y soluciones integrales para clientes.
Riesgo, Cumplimiento y Gobierno
Asegurar cumplimiento con regulación local e internacional y las políticas internas del grupo
Evaluar riesgos financieros, reputacionales y operativos en cada transacción.
Promover una cultura de integridad y control sólido.
Experiencia
+20 años en Banca de Inversión.
Experiencia liderando equipos y cerrando transacciones complejas en México.
Conocimiento de los clientes corporativos y de los inversionistas.
Sólido track record en originación, ejecución de transacciones y generación de ingresos.

Educación
Licenciatura en Finanzas, Economía, Administración o afín
MBA o Maestría (altamente deseable)
