ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Category & Channel Development Manager (Grocery) to join our Specialised Nutrition business based in Sydney.
Reporting to the Head of Category & Channel Development, this role will lead the category growth agenda across the Grocery channel for our Early Life Nutrition portfolio.
You will be responsible for developing category and channel strategies, identifying growth opportunities through data and insights, and building collaborative partnerships with key retail customers.
This is a highly visible role that sits at the intersection of Sales, Marketing, Revenue Growth Management, Strategy & Insights, and senior leadership. You will help shape commercial decisions, influence strategic priorities, and drive category leadership in a dynamic and purpose-led business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Category & Channel Development
- Lead the category strategy agenda for Danone's Early Life Nutrition portfolio.
- Identify growth opportunities through consumer, shopper, customer, market, and competitor insights.
- Convert insights into category strategies and recommendations that drive commercial growth.
- Partner with Sales leadership to define channel priorities and winning growth strategies.
4P Strategy
- Develop ranging and placement strategies that support category growth and commercial objectives.
- Partner with Revenue Growth Management to shape pricing, promotional, and CPI strategies.
- Drive profitable growth through data-led 4P recommendations and commercial insights.
Customer Engagement
- Build strategic partnerships with key retailers through insight-led recommendations and collaborative growth initiatives.
- Champion priority opportunities and lead category reviews to drive mutual growth with major customers.
- Develop compelling go-to-market strategies and customer narratives that support both key accounts and broader channel execution.
Business Planning & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner cross-functionally to develop annual strategic and commercial plans.
- Provide customer, channel, and category insights to support business decision-making.
- Shape innovation and renovation initiatives by representing the customer and channel perspective
About You
ABOUT YOU
You bring a strong blend of category expertise, commercial thinking, and stakeholder influence.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in Category Management, Category Development, Commercial Strategy, or a customer-facing FMCG role.
- Strong knowledge of the Australian grocery landscape.
- Experience working with major retailers such as Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Metcash, Costco or Chemist Warehouse.
- Advanced analytical skills with syndicated data (e.g Circana), shopper loyalty data (e.g Quantium, Synergy) and consumer studies to turn data into clear recommendations.
- A track record of influencing stakeholders and delivering business results.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Experience within healthcare, personal care or nutrition categories will be highly regarded.
