Description

We are seeking a senior risk management professional for a dual role as the Risk Management Country Officer (RMCO) and Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) lead for Israel. As the designated Country Risk Head, you will provide crucial oversight for all franchise-level risk matters and ensure compliance with local regulations.

This position is responsible for managing the WCR portfolio from a 2LoD perspective and requires a seasoned credit approver, preferably with or on a clear path to Senior Credit Officer (SCO) authority.

What you will do:

  • Act as the Country Risk Head and single point of contact for franchise-level risk matters, providing Second Line of Defense (2LoD) oversight and strategic partnership to the Citi Country Officer (CCO).

  • Manage the Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) portfolio in Israel, serving as a 2LoD approver for complex credit transactions within a designated approval authority.

  • Chair the Country Risk Management Committee, and coordinate with other risk stripes to monitor, identify, share, and resolve aggregate and cross-sector risk issues.

  • Provide comprehensive risk oversight for all in-country legal vehicles and subsidiaries, ensuring adherence to firm-wide standards.

  • Serve as the lead partner to the CCO on all risk-related regulatory matters, coordinating responses, ensuring involvement of local experts, and overseeing compliance with local regulations, including Basel requirements.

  • Continuously assess the quality of the loan portfolio by identifying and escalating emerging risks and monitoring key trends to execute preventative measures.

  • Oversee deal approvals in collaboration with business partners, demonstrating commercial awareness and sound judgment while adhering to established credit policies and guidelines.

  • Prepare and present risk-related deliverables on portfolio performance, risks, and opportunities for internal leadership and external stakeholders, including regulators.

What we will need from you:

  • 10+ years of extensive experience in risk management, credit risk, or related financial services field.

  • Advanced degree is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing and approving credit applications, with a deep understanding of financial analysis and cash flow lending products.

  • Expertise in compliance laws, rules, regulations, and risk typologies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to negotiate, guide, and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience in resource management and team allocation.

  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial data to assess risk and make informed credit decisions.

  • A self-starter who is flexible, innovative, and acts as a change catalyst, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to excellence.
