About the Role: 

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Information Technology Services the Director, Enterprise Technology & Products provides enterprise leadership and strategic direction for the University’s enterprise applications, technology platforms, and solution delivery, spanning student, academic, and administrative systems (including SIS, ERP, HRIS, and CRM), enterprise integration and API platforms, data and analytics platforms, database administration, identity and cloud platform operations, and the University’s application development practice. The incumbent serves as the University’s senior operational technology delivery leader, setting platform strategies, roadmaps, and standards that ensure Brock’s core systems are reliable, secure, integrated, and continuously improved in support of teaching, learning, research, and administration. The Enterprise Technology & Products portfolio builds and runs the University’s enterprise technology.  

The Director, Enterprise Technology & Products will:  

  • Provide senior leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the University’s enterprise applications, technology platforms, and solution delivery portfolio;  
  • Establish and advance multi-year platform strategies, roadmaps, and release cycles for core enterprise systems, including the Student Information System (SIS), ERP, HRIS, CRM, and related academic and administrative applications;  
  • Lead lifecycle management of the enterprise application and platform portfolio, from evaluation and acquisition through implementation, enhancement, optimization, and retirement, reducing duplication, technical debt, and total cost of ownership;  
  • Advise academic, administrative, and technology leaders on enterprise technology direction, solution options, modernization opportunities, and delivery capacity; 
  • Direct the delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of the University’s enterprise applications, including student, academic, financial, human resources, and administrative systems; 
  • Oversee application configuration, enhancement, development, upgrade, and release activities, ensuring effective change coordination, quality assurance, and Tier 3 application support;  
  • Ensure enterprise solutions are designed, integrated, and operated to meet institutional requirements for reliability, accessibility, usability, scalability, and security;  
  • Direct vendor and SaaS management for enterprise applications and platforms, including contracts, licensing, service levels, escalations, and vendor roadmap alignment;  
  • Direct the University’s shared technology platform layer, including database administration, enterprise integration and API platforms, identity and cloud platform operations, and data and analytics platforms, delivered as common capabilities that support all enterprise solutions;  
  • Establish and govern the University’s integration strategy, standards, and platform (APIs, middleware, iPaaS), enabling reliable and secure data flow across enterprise, cloud, and third-party systems; 
  • Oversee enterprise data and reporting platforms, including data pipelines, warehousing, and analytics capabilities, in support of institutional reporting and data-informed decision-making;  
  • Build a high-performing, service-oriented, and psychologically safe culture focused on delivery quality, collaboration, and professional growth;  
  • Support the financial stewardship of the portfolio, including making recommendations for multi-year capital and operating planning, cost optimization, and investment prioritization;  
  • Balance project, enhancement, and operational workloads in partnership with institutional intake and prioritization processes.  

Key Skills and Experience: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. The equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered;  
  • Leadership experience in enterprise applications, technology platforms, or software delivery environments, including oversight of ERP/SIS-class enterprise systems, systems integration, data and analytics platforms, application development, vendor and SaaS management, and enterprise technology operations. 
  • Experience leading enterprise system implementations, upgrades, or modernization programs, and experience with enterprise integration platforms (APIs, middleware, iPaaS) and cloud services. 
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise application architecture, administration, and lifecycle management for ERP, SIS, HRIS, CRM, and related academic and administrative systems;  
  • Comprehensive understanding of enterprise integration methodologies and platforms, including APIs, middleware, iPaaS, and event-driven and batch integration patterns;  
  • Advanced knowledge of data and analytics platforms, including data warehousing, data pipelines, ETL/ELT, reporting, and data quality and lifecycle management;  
  • Strong knowledge of database administration, cloud platforms, identity platform operations, and enterprise infrastructure concepts;  
  • Strong knowledge of modern software development and delivery practices, including agile methods, DevOps, continuous integration and delivery, release management, quality assurance, and secure development;  
  • Knowledge of product management practices, value-stream alignment, and platform-based delivery models, and the ability to mature these practices over time within an established organization; 
  • Knowledge of IT service management and governance frameworks, including ITIL and COBIT, and their application in a higher education context;  
  • Strong vendor, contract, and SaaS management skills for enterprise platforms and applications;  
  • Ability to develop and execute long-term technology strategies, roadmaps, operating models, and organizational change initiatives aligned with institutional objectives;  
  • Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community; 
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations and executive briefings;  
  • Proven ability to provide strategic advice, influence decision-making, build consensus, and lead through influence;  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.   

Preferred or Asset Skills:  

  • Experience in the higher education and/or public sector;  
  • Master’s degree in information technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline;  
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification;  
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification; 
  • Experience establishing or operating a product-based or platform-centric delivery model;  
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL, COBIT, or related product management, agile, or service management certifications. 

Salary and Total Rewards:  

  • Job Grade Q, Salary Scale ($111,580-$178,528); 
  • Target Hiring Range: $130,000-$160,000* 
  • This is a permanent position that includes:   
  • Health & Dental Benefits: Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage. 
  • Pension Plan: Enrollment eligibility in the Brock University Pension Plan. 
  • Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays. 
  • Professional Development: Eligibility for the Brock Tuition Waiver Program. 

*The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
