FLSA Status: Exempt
Schedule: Full-time; Monday - Friday, any 8-hour shift scheduled between 8:00AM - 6:00PM. Nights and weekend as needed.

Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Manager drives the creative positioning, strategic storytelling, and multi-channel digital growth for St. Francis House. Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy & External Affairs, this position crafts compelling pitches and messaging that elevate SFH’s programs and services to inspire prospective donors and broad community support. The Manager leads digital acquisition efforts—blending organic social media storytelling with targeted paid advertising campaigns—to reach new supporters, convert followers into donors, and expand online visibility. Additionally, this role supervises the Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Creative Positioning & Program Pitching: Craft high-impact brand positioning and compelling narrative arcs for SFH’s core programs (day shelter, housing, employment, behavioral health, substance use disorder services), translating complex human services into persuasive public-facing pitches, collateral, and presentations.
- Organic & Paid Digital Growth Strategy: Formulate and manage an integrated digital strategy across social platforms (Meta/Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). In collaboration with our outside vendor, combine high-quality organic storytelling with targeted paid ad campaigns on Meta, Google, and YouTube, engineered to acquire new donors, capture leads, and deepen engagement.
- Fundraising Collateral & Major Gift Support: Partner with Annual Giving and Major Gift Officers to create tailored pitch packages, individualized donor proposals, impact reports, and presentation materials that speak directly to specific donor interests.
- Website Management & Conversion Optimization: Direct website content strategy, landing page design, and search engine optimization (SEO/GEO) to elevate search rankings, convert web traffic into donors, and maintain brand integrity.
- Public Relations & Media Outreach: Pitch stories highlighting SFH programmatic innovations to local and regional media; serve as a key point of contact alongside leadership for press and public inquiries.
- Special Event Management and Communications: Manage all strategic messaging for key fundraising campaigns and major events, including drafting speeches, crafting promotional copy, and developing event marketing materials. In collaboration with the Development Events Coordinator, plan and execute special public-facing events as needed (i.e. grand openings, ribbon cuttings, etc).
- Digital Analytics & Performance Metrics: Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across organic posts, paid advertising, web traffic, and email campaigns to continuously refine digital donor acquisition strategies.
- Team & Vendor Leadership: Supervise the Marketing & Communications Coordinator; manage relationships with external design agencies, media buyers, copywriters, and video production partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversees the daily workflow of assigned staff.
- Interviews, selects, trains staff.
- Provides constructive and timely performance communication.
- Handles progressive warning and termination of employees in accordance with agency policy/procedure.
Requirements
- Proven track record in creative storytelling, brand positioning, and pitching mission-driven programs to diverse external audiences.
- Expertise in managing social media channels and driving growth using both organic content strategy and paid digital ad execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong narrative writing abilities.
- Proficiency with digital donor acquisition platforms, email marketing tools (Classy, MailChimp, Blackbaud), CMS platforms (WordPress), and social management tools (Sprout Social).
- Proficiency in visual design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Strong analytical ability to measure campaign ROI and optimize digital content based on performance metrics.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, non-profit management, English, journalism or relevant field.
- Minimum of five years working in a marketing or communications position.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience designing and executing paid digital campaigns aimed at donor/customer acquisition.
- Proven experience in cross-departmental collaboration, pitch deck development, and external vendor management.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
- Experience using desktop publishing, photo editing software and database experience (Adobe Suite and Canva) required.
- Experience with HTML and website management required.
- Experience working with online fundraising software and designing constituent emails within an email-marketing platform, (Classy, Blackbaud, MailChimp) required.
- Experience creating content and overseeing social media accounts, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube.
Work Environment & Activity
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
- Prolong standing and moving throughout multi-level building.
- Constantly operate computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer.
- Work hours will include evening, weekends and holidays as needed for special events, projects.
- Required to work in office two to three days per week.
