Job Description

PURPOSE SUMMARY.   Perform a variety of duties related to planning, designing, coordinating, and producing audio-visual materials, social media content, and print materials to inform, educate, and engage the public about the Dona Ana Board of County Commissioners and County services, programs, and initiatives. Manage and maintain the County’s brand across all communication platforms, ensuring content aligns with County communication standards, accessibility requirements, and policy guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES. 

1. Media Production & Content Development

  • Perform multi-media support, and logistic for County activities and events, including BOCC and other public meetings, training materials and public information in video, audio and still image formats.

  • Produce printed and video material and social media posts about County updates, projects and general information for dissemination to the public.

  • Serve County department video production needs.

2. Live Meetings, Events, & Coverage

  • Organize media coverage of special events, as assigned.

  • Assist with the production of live and recorded BOCC meetings and other public meetings and distribute in various formats for internal and external use.

  • Assist with broadcasts and special events, including coordination and on-site support.

3. Equipment Operations & Logistics

  • Operate audio-visual equipment including video cameras, recorders, computers, editing software, lighting equipment, microphones, mixers, and related tools.

  • Transport, load, unload, and set up equipment for studio and location productions.

4. Project Planning & Production Coordination

  • Coordinate County production schedules and export completed productions for use on websites and social media platforms.

  • Consult with internal clients to define project goals, communication concepts, scope, themes, audio and visual elements, budgets, timelines, and priorities.

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate production projects in accordance with County guidelines.

  • Analyze production issues and implement appropriate solutions.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with community representatives, employees, and public interest groups.

5. Post-Production, Digital Publishing, and Photography

  • Coordinate and perform post-production activities including editing, graphics creation, soundtrack development, media conversion, and duplication.

  • Produce and design graphics and video content for social media, digital signage, and County websites in coordination with social media staff.

  • Assist with writing informational, marketing, and promotional materials and adapt language and tone to the intended audience and medium.

  • Post approved content to County internal and external websites and social media platforms.

  • Provide general photographic services including headshots and event photography.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES.  Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS.

A.  Education. Associate's degree in Journalism, Mass Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field.

B.  Experience. One (1) year of full-time training or experience in media production.

C.  Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County policy. 

D.  Licenses/Certifications. Valid driver’s license. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy.

E.  Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Must pass pre-employment background check and driving record check. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of multimedia production including video, audio, photography, and graphic design.

  • Audio-visual production workflows including pre-production, production, and post-production processes.

  • Operation and care of audio-visual equipment including cameras, lighting, microphones, and editing systems.

  • Digital media formats, file management, and media distribution platforms.

  • Public sector communication standards, accessibility requirements, and records retention guidelines.

  • Social media platforms and digital communication methods used by public agencies.

Skill in:

  • Video and audio recording, editing, and production using industry-standard software and equipment.

  • Photography including composition, lighting, and image editing.

  • Graphic design for digital, print, and web-based platforms.

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing multimedia projects.

  • Operating and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment in studio and field environments.

  • Written communication for informational, marketing, and promotional content.

Ability to:

  • Plan, organize, and manage multiple multimedia projects within established timelines.

  • Consult with internal clients to identify communication goals and project requirements.

  • Adapt content style and format to different audiences and communication platforms.

  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced public service environment.

  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, community members, and stakeholders.

  • Follow County policies, guidelines, and professional standards.

Compensation Range

$21.16 - $31.74
