Position Overview

The Bursar Assistant is a pivotal member of the Bursar's Office within the Administration & Finance Division, reporting directly to the Bursar. This position serves as a primary point of contact for student financial accounts and is responsible for the assistance with accurate billing, collection, and reconciliation of tuition, housing, and related fees for Undergraduate, Graduate, and Continuing Education programs.

In support of the Bursar Team the Assistant will provide exceptional customer service by advising students, families, and other constituents on student account matters, payment options, billing procedures, and institutional policies. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate complex financial information with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.  The ability to work independently on overarching and often competing projects is a necessity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and reconcile student accounts, including the assessment of tuition and fees, adjustments, payments, credits, and account balances.
     
  • Greet students and families in person and on the phone
     
  • Monitor, respond or triage all student correspondence received through the ticketing system
     
  • Support Associate Bursar’s in outbound calling to students with delinquent accounts
  • Provides information and or assistance to students in person, by email or over the phone as necessary.  Promotes a positive image of the Bursar’s Office when handling customer/client problems by treating each individual with respect and resolving their concerns/complaints in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for adherence to credit policies as established by the Board of Trustees as well as Federal and State regulations.
  • Participates in registration process by assisting students at the stopping point due to their financial obligations to the College
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or extended hours during peak operational periods, including registration and other major campus events.
     
  • Reliable transportation for attendance at required campus events and work-related responsibilities.
     
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the Bursar's Office and the College
  • Provide operational support and cross-coverage for other functions within the Bursar's Office
     
  • Assist Sr. Associate Bursar with projects and tasks assigned by the Bursar

Community Engagement
 

  • Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings. Show a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma required. Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience with student accounts receivable, billing, collections, or higher education finance preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships across departments and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, staff, and external partners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and student information or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

In compliance with Massachusetts pay transparency law, the annual base salary range for this position is $47,000–$57,000. Endicott College considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, relevant work experience, education, specialized skills, internal equity, and external market data when extending an offer. The final salary is determined by the Human Resources Office based on these factors. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or other compensation.
