Description
Purpose of the Role
Key Responsibilities
· Work with Chair, Secretary and Treasurer to monitor the timely implementation of agreed actions by CEO and Committee members and ensure the Committee provides close oversight of the financial sustainability of Freeda.
· Support and inform Committee governance oversight and compliance with legal and statutory requirements under the Jersey Charities Commission, the Jersey Care Commission and Freeda’s Constitution, etc.
· Work collaboratively with the Chair, CEO and Committee members to ensure an annual strategic plan, deliverable organisational goals and an annual Freeda report.
· Ensure Freeda’s activities align with its mission and values.
· Develop and maintain an effective and constructive relationship with the Chair and the CEO, ensuring, together with the Committee, she is held accountable for achieving agreed strategic objectives and effective management of all Freeda’s activities.
· Support the Chair in the preparation and submission of the annual Charity report to the Charity Commissioner.
· Should the CEO require additional support, and in the absence of the Chair, act as a spoke person for Freeda, engaging with partners, funders and the community.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous leadership/management roles desirable
- Some governance, management and strategic oversight experience
- Awareness of fundraising and partnership building in the Jersey context
- Previous trustee or committee experience
- An understanding of the cause and effect of violence and abuse against women and girls
- Sound understanding and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
- Sound knowledge of governance and financial management
- Knowledge of the Jersey Care Commission and/or Social Services policies an advantage
- Commitment to upholding Freeda’s mission and values
- Leadership, management, coordination and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to analyse, problem solve and lead others
- Good independent judgement
