Journeyman Heavy Equipment Field Technician

Key Information:
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM -5:30 PM. (8 Hours regular time, 2 hours over time)
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends. (on-call rotation)
- Hourly rate is dependent on experience.

Job Description:
- Operate service truck in field.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
- Be able to Repair and maintain all makes of heavy construction equipment. (Dozers, Bulldozers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Scrapers, Water Wagons, Motor Graders, Compaction Rollers, Articulated Trucks) is required.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
- Service attachments and working tools.
- Verify and repair emission control systems.
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Keep maintenance reports and documentation.
- Instruct apprentices.
- Perform repair work on heavy trucks.
- Communicate with site management to coordinate maintenance priorities.
- Promote safety awareness by ensuring compliance with corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Operate/drive heavy equipment safely at the work site requirements.
Experience and Certification Requirements:
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification or be eligible to obtain the Certification.
- Experience in a leadership role is considered an asset.
- Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over three years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college, or industry courses in heavy equipment repair is required to be eligible for trade certification.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting/repairing CAT is an asset.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting/repairing John Deere and Hitachi equipment is an asset
- Experience in Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction and/or Infrastructure is required.
- A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
- Class 3 Driver's License with air brakes is an asset.
- Ability to handle up to 23 kg. (50 lbs.)
- A reliable means of transportation is required.
- Proficient English language skills required.
Education: Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification.
