Axle is seeking a Immunologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) located in Bethesda, MD.

Provide scientific staffing support for the Division of Intramural Research (DIR), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

Statement of Work Details:

Provide financial management – assist with managing DIR Budget allocations of appropriated funds; planning, supplemental, reviews, initiatives, program changes, EOY spending. - 1

Contribute to development of resource packages for new Principal Investigators. - 2

Collaborate on translational research projects; currently production of a Clinical Lot for vaccine candidates and nonhuman primate studies. - 3

Biosafety - Biosecurity - Regulatory Management - advise PIs and LCs on biosafety and biosecurity for DIR campuses in Bethesda, Rockville, and Hamilton including high containment (BSL-3 and ABSL-3) and maximum containment (BSL-4 and ABSL-4) - 4

Designs and performs original immunological research.

Assist with resource management changes (for example: money, staff, space) via the DIR LiveLink/Resource Tracking system, and coordinate space allocations for new projects, programs, or renovations.

Evaluates, tests and implements new processes, methodologies and tools for complex immunological testing and research.

Work with OMIFM, IAMB, and AMOB senior management.

Scientific Facilities Management - provides recommendations for NIAID DIR facilities and research operations.

Maintain an updated database of space quantity, type, and usage for DIR laboratories.

Documents research findings and maintains accurate logs and records of all experimental activities and outcomes.

Provide vaccine development and other research support functions.
-
Provides subject matter expertise to senior scientists and program executives.

Work with senior management of NIH DOHS, Select Agent Program, High Containment Task Force, NIH Police and Fire Departments (ORS), and Contract security staff.

Provide advice and recommendations on issues of biosafety and biosecurity including CDC/USDA inspections, Containment Building shutdowns and validations, and Emergency events.

Assist NIAID DIR Principal Investigators in dealing with intellectual property, technology transfer, and licensing issues with NIAID TTIPO and NIH OTT with focus on vaccine development.

Prepares results of experimental findings for presentation and publication.

Perform regular site visits to each of our NIAID facilities in Rockville, MD; Frederick, MD; and Hamilton, Montana.

Minimum one per year, as determined by task leader.

Assist and contribute to DIR OD strategic planning process, assessment of new scientific initiatives and advise on resource allocation.
