What You'll Do
As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Medication Preparation & Distribution
- Enter and maintain medication data within EPIC.
- Prepare medication orders for pharmacist verification by retrieving, counting, measuring, and occasionally compounding medications.
- Accurately fill medication orders and prescriptions in a timely manner.
- Assist with medication delivery and shipping after pharmacist verification.
- Prepare medications for safe delivery or shipment.
- Retrieve and process unused medications from patient care areas when appropriate.
Inventory & Compliance
- Receive, stock, and maintain pharmacy inventory while ensuring medication security.
- Monitor assigned areas for outdated medications and support quality assurance initiatives.
- Follow all hazardous drug and waste handling procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.
- Support medication storage, inventory control, and regulatory compliance standards.
Patient Care & Team Support
- Prioritize workload based on patient needs and departmental demands.
- Deliver medications to nursing and patient care areas promptly.
- Participate in departmental meetings, huddles, and team initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and across shifts to ensure continuity of care.
Training & Professional Development

- Complete hospital-required education and department-specific competencies.
- Participate in pharmacy orientation and technician training programs.
- Complete EPIC and/or Willow training as required.
- Develop skills across multiple pharmacy work areas and technologies.
What We're Looking For
Required
โ High School Diploma or equivalent
โ Active registration in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician OR willingness to obtain registration by the first day of employment, including completion of fingerprinting and FBI background check requirements
โ Successful completion of pharmacy department orientation
Preferred
โญ Previous pharmacy experience (1 year preferred, but not required)
Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Experience working with pharmacy automation technology and workflow management systems
- Ability to operate robotic dispensing equipment and automated dispensing cabinets
- Basic troubleshooting skills for pharmacy automation and software systems
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
- Sound judgment and strong organizational abilities
