Description
WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU
This 18-month secondment offers a high-impact opportunity to lead a comprehensive Market Logistics Network study spanning all international markets.
The GSC Market Logistics Network Lead is a director-level leader accountable for analyzing and delivering an end-to-end review and optimization of Pfizer's in-market warehousing (LSPs and Pfizer in-house sites) and transportation activities across all Trading Legal Entity markets and Export markets with in-market consignment stocks, excluding the United States.
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
The role will establish a robust baseline for the Market Logistics network, project future volume and capability requirements through 2028-30, and identify actionable opportunities to enhance quality compliance, and optimize cost - service delivery - resilience tradeoffs. This role acts as PCT Lead, potentially supported by additional secondments.
Operating under the GSC Logistics GPO structure, the incumbent will partner directly with Regional VPs, Market Logistics Leaders, and cross-functional teams in Logistics Risk & Compliance, Quality, Procurement and Finance — while also collaborating closely with the Global Logistics Network & PMO team to shape the GSC NexGen Logistics Modelling & Optimization digital solution and capability.
HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT
Market Logistics Network Baseline
Establish a comprehensive, fact-based baseline of Pfizer's Market Logistics LSP network across all in-scope international markets, as the foundational evidence base for all subsequent optimization decisions. US Market Logistics is not in scope.
Exercise senior judgment in determining methodology and data requirements in mapping Market (LSPs + Pfizer sites) locations.
Analyzing capacity by temperature range (inbound, storage, outbound), expenditure and contractual cost structure, transportation and value-added services, quality and compliance profiles.
Determine any local regulatory or statutory requirements.
Future-State Volume/Capacity Projection & Capability Planning
Project Market Logistics volume trends through the 2028–2030 planning horizon.
Incorporate anticipated changes in go-to-market models, service level and channel requirements, and emerging capability needs (new temperature ranges, standards of care, or value-added services).
Assess impact and provide input to future organizational and governance models, digital roadmap and performance management.
Apply strategic foresight and commercial insight to ensure the optimized network is designed for future-fit performance, not only current-state efficiency.
Network Analysis and Recommendations
Lead the identification and prioritization of actionable optimization opportunities across the international Market Logistics network, including network design choices, capacity right-sizing, options for clustering (multi-market or regional LSPs), contract harmonization and vendor consolidation.
Deliver clear, evidence-based recommendations — balancing cost reduction, service excellence, and supply chain resilience, while driving enhanced Logistics Quality and Compliance, proactively manage risk (including GDP and EHS requirements, global trade regulation).
Ensure all optimization strategies and recommendations integrate sustainability and environmentally responsible practices.
Explore the potential application of Lead Logistics Provider (LLP), 4PL concepts and/or leveraging Distributor models if aligned with the commercial strategy.
Upon finalization of the study and endorsement of recommendations, support the implementation of decisions and model changes resulting.
PCT Leadership, Governance, Stakeholder Engagement & Regional Alignment
Act as PCT Lead for the Market Logistics Network study.
Establish and maintain a rigorous governance cadence aligned to Pfizer's IMEx methodology, including initiative structure, decision-making forums, milestone accountability, and escalation pathways.
Ensure the initiative operates within the GSC Logistics GPO framework to deliver a globally consistent and standardized approach.
Serve as the primary cross-functional integrator for the optimization initiative — partnering directly with Regional VPs and Market Logistics Leaders.
Collaborate with Logistics Risk & Compliance, Quality, Procurement, and Finance.
Deliver clear, insight-driven reporting and strategic recommendations to GSC Leadership throughout the secondment lifecycle.
Provide regular readouts to T4/T5 leadership forums and ensure alignment with GSC strategy and goals.
Logistics Network Modelling & Optimization
Collaborate closely with the Global Logistics Network & PMO team to identify Market Logistics data sources, assess data quality and requirements.
Provide market logistics inputs into the GSC NexGen Logistics Network Modelling & Optimization initiative, including digital solution and capability requirements.
Champion the adoption of digital tools — including visibility platforms, decision intelligence, and network optimization technologies — to enhance data-driven decision-making across the Market Logistics network.
