Assistant or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction – K–12 Mathematics Specialist

Texas A&M University–Victoria seeks one full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction – K–12 Mathematics Specialist, with a start date of January 2027. The position is located at the Victoria Campus.

Qualifications: The Department of Teacher Education at Texas A&M University–Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track position in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in K–12 Mathematics Education. We seek an individual with an earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics Education, STEM Education, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated academic emphasis in mathematics education, by December 2026.

Candidates should have evidence of strong teaching at the higher education level and a minimum of three years of PK–12 classroom teaching experience, preferably involving mathematics instruction. The successful candidate should possess a strong understanding of effective mathematics pedagogy across grade levels and a working knowledge of Texas Education Agency expectations for educator preparation and teacher certification.

Successful candidates will:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Curriculum and Instruction and mathematics education in both traditional and online formats (4-course or equivalent teaching load in the fall and spring semesters);
• Teach and support mathematics methods courses serving candidates seeking EC–6, 4–8, and secondary mathematics certification, as appropriate;
• Support undergraduate teacher preparation and graduate programs in Curriculum and Instruction;
• Mentor students to prepare them for professional practice providing support for clinical teaching, residency, and internships through orientations, seminars or coaching sessions, formal and informal observations, and ongoing feedback;
• Provide support to students in need of academic improvement;
• Employ effective use of Canvas to support teaching, learning, and assessment, in alignment with best practices in instruction;
• Abide by deadlines and processes for submitting grades;
• Work collaboratively with faculty to strengthen candidates' mathematics content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and effective use of evidence-based instructional practices;
• Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement;
• Maintain an appropriate scholarly agenda consistent with expectations for a tenure-track faculty appointment; and
• Contribute to the department, college, and university's mission through assigned service.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in university teaching in traditional and online environments and experience preparing teachers to provide effective mathematics instruction in diverse PK–12 settings.

Additional preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:

• Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Mathematics and Texas educator certification standards;
• Experience with mathematics curriculum development, assessment, and data-informed instruction;
• Experience working with preservice and/or practicing teachers;
• Experience supporting teacher candidates preparing for Texas mathematics certification examinations;
• An understanding of the structures and needs of PK–12 schools and school systems; and
• A commitment to developing collaborative relationships with schools, districts, Education Service Centers, and other educational partners.

Setting: Texas A&M University-Victoria is the most recent addition to the Texas A&M University System.
